No
I don't know that I will actually need to black out the two windows in the room allocated to me for photography but ...

..I was thinking about the possibility of basing it on - say- a magnetic secondary glazing system that could be installed and removed as necessary as well as being low cost.

But with hardboard or thin plywood instead of glass.

Has anybody tried this?

You would need to cut holes for the window handles but blocking out light from the holes should be easy

My studio has a terrace window/door that measure some 2.8 X4m. My solution, since there
already is some kind of curtain rail in place, was to use a good quality opaque black muslin
as it is used in theatres.

It turned out, as I had it cut to 7m+, that it can be used as backdrop as well. No loss of vertical
wall space!

Does it really need to be that dark? Won't a roller blind do?

Yes I am no expert but I was thinking why would it have to be that dark ?

You are tending to confirm what I was thinking ie get the room up and running, ensuring all options remain open and see what I actually need.

Ooops sorry chris I missed that.
Yes do as you say, you may not need to. As you know I only faff at home but up until now have not needed complete darkness.
Good luck with your new space.

No problems Gary.

If I can find a cheap flexible (removable) solution then I will probably go for it but it's not a priority for me☺
