I want to get a second monitor for my 2010 21 inch iMac to help with photo/video editing.

I would also like it to be the same size and make sure the resolution is the same so when dragging items across they are the same size.

I have seen on here that dell ultra sharps have got mentioned as good screens, I just wondered if someone could confirm the model number that will suit me

im sorry i cant confirm, but the model i always see and has been recommended to me is the 2412M i believe.

i could be wrong here, but im sure someone can confirm or deny this :)
 
Thanks for this, I think this is a 24 inch version, I want it 21.5, I suppose I take the letters and apply it to this version?

Can anyone confirm the resolution, look will be the same as my mac?
 
You could look at the Dell P2021H. Don't know how good it is but it is at a good price at the moment. or maybe the Philips E-Line 227E3QPHSU

Provided you are not using the second screen to evaluate colour,but simply as a holding place for tools etc. you may not need to spend a lot of money

This is what I did. Bought a cheap ish Samsung, 21.5" 1920x1080, exactly the same as my 21.5" iMac (2010 like yours). Works perfectly but not bothered calibrating etc as said above, I just use it for browsing web, holding iTunes etc whilst all editing/photo viewing in web etc is done on the calibrated iMac.

I just had a quick look for a samsung and looks like it will be between £100 and £120 for one, I have found some ultrasharp monitors, model 2212hm for about the same price refurbished with 3 years warranty

Am I better off with the Dell? Just incase in future I do use it to look at photos/videos?
 
normally the recommended dell models are IPS panels, but i dont think youll find any for £120. you might be able to find a 2nd hand 2209WA which is 22" and 1680x1050 if you dig around..
 
The Phillips is an IPS panel monitor
