I am looking to buy some camera equipment, an EOS 5 35mm film camera and possibly an EOS 1d mark 1. However finding these is getting a little difficult.

Other than Ebay can anyone recommend shops that they know who deal in this kind of equipment.

I only know of 2 others in Norwich, Capricorn cameras (rubbish) and Phillips camers.

I've bought EOS 5 on ebay as my first SLR from an amateur. I didn't have any problems with it. As long as it didn't have pro use it will be fine and cheap. If you use film it is the best bang per buck. AF is really fast and very accurate (try 500N if you don't believe me)

WRT 1D mk1 it doesn't look like a good idea to me. EOS 5 is probably a 200% more usable camera. It has very poor sensor at 4MP and only good at ISO 100, so 8 fps wont make a difference. They are all finished by now. I'd look at 1D mk2 / 40D / 50D / D300 if I were you.
 
Buying s/h cameras is always a risky business. Buying top of the range second hand can be a bit expensive if it gives trouble. Buy a moderate priced one, then if it gives trouble bin it

not really if you know where its come from. im on my 2nd 2nd hand body from the same person (POTN regular) and both have been spot on. the 300D is now in a new home and doing well and i think im actually the 3rd owner of the 20D i own now..
 
www.ffordes.com have a reasonable selection of second hand stuff. at the moment, theres three EOS 5 bodies. listed For any digital stuff, click on the 'digital cameras' link then the manufacturer... I haven't used them mail order, as I just go for a drive across.
 
try jacobs too they have second section. a local company to me do google melgray.

If you want secondhand stuff locally, then LCE has some and Norfolk Cameras in Dereham also has some. Otherwise its mail order stuff - MBP, Mifsuds etc., - pick up a copy of Amateur Photographer - plenty of adverts from used dealers.
