Second hand 600mm Lens Purchase

Hi, I've been browsing the forum a while but this is my first post.

I have been wanting to purchase a long tele lens for a while and had decided on a Nikon 500mm f4 VR once I could get my head around the cost!

I have just been told of a used 600mm AF-S ED for sale at a considerably lower price than the new 500.

Does anyone have any idea of a reasonable price to pay for this lens in the UK? I would be mostly using it for flight shots of raptors and so any advice on performance compared to the newer lenses would be useful too.

Carl, this lens your looking at is likely the same one i enquired about..If not then a good condition one sells for £3200 upwards, a mint or near it one will be £3500 upwards to near £4000. The AFS II version sells for £4000 up to £4750..PM me the one you looking at and i will tell you of the reply i got when i enquired..I would prefer a 500 to be honest....

Get yourself registered on Nikonians. There is a 500mm vr and 600mm vr for sale.
I only registered last night. I would have bought one of them, had I known.
I've got my new lens now, so of no use to me.
