How many non professionals have & use a second body?

I have because of not wanting to swap lenses too often. I was planning on selling my old body but I think it is worth more as backup/alternative than the cash I would get for it

My fiance and I have a 40D and a 400D between us. When I'm out on my own I use the 400D as a second body.

I still have two Nikon FM2n bodies. Many years ago I use to shoot in colour as well as black & white, so I'd have b&w in one and either colour negative or slide film in the other.

For the past eight years or so I have only been shooting in b&w, so I normally use one body for a slow film, eg. FP4+, and the other for a faster one, eg. HP5+ or even Delta 3200.

Other photographers I've been with have 2 or even 3 bodies using different lenses on each one.

I have two digi bodies, 5D and 400D. When I can afford it, I'll probably get hold of a 1 series and dump the 400. Then it'll be wide angle on the 5D and whatever else on the 1.

At the moment the 400 doesn't get much use. I only take it out as a backup or second if I have a job. For example at the MCG last weekend, I had a 24-70 on the 5D all day, and switched between a 10-22 and 70-200 on the 400D. Definitely a huge advantage over one body.

So, I guess that may not count as amateur use of a second body. But, I'm certainly no 'pro' as yet.

5D and 5D II

Yes here, I get fed up switching lens at when I am places or out shooting friends, kids etc.

D200 and D50

I have done one wedding and been paid so it was essential there

Me too, got 2 40D's and a 350D, the 350 dosent get used much, am thinking of otter bodies aswell. :D

D300 and D300 and another D300, can you tell I like D300's :)

I'm another with 2 - a D300 and a D50

Started out with the D50 and thought I might sell when I got the D300. When the time came I only got as far as seeing what its P Ex value was and decided it was worth more to me to keep it. Having said that, very rare is the occaision that I take both out - it tends to be that the D300 gets the main use, with the D50 just left lying around the house to grab "those moments" the cats start doing stoopid stuff

I've got the following;

20D to be used for some experiments because I don't want to fry one of the newer models.
30D used for snaps around the house and Mrs CB to use.
40D used for macro with a split focus screen installed.
50D used for wildlife with long telephotos.
1D3 for times when good AF is a must.
5D2 for landscape, candids and alike.
EOS-3 film body.

I have 2.

D300 which is my main body.
D100, which is used as a back up/spare.

2 bodies
1d mkll waiting repair from canon for last 4 weeks. they say they tried to contact me but not by either of the 2 phone numbers I gave them or the 2 email addresses I provided. ARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH having orginally been quoted 2 and the price has now gone up . :bang:

350d which was first dslr packed up last week and now rattles, not worth getting repaired.

considering a 40 or 50d now as a back up as i only shoot sport.

I have four bodies - almost always work with two - sometimes with three and one as a back up. You don't miss as many shots if you work with two! :)

I've been pondering 1.4x TC vs 1.6x crop body - not that I can afford either :bang:

apart from the one i live in, i have 2 a D2x and a D200, i run a different lens on each went out for the day so don't have to keep changing lenses, little bit more to carry but makes life so much easier i generally run 100-300 on one and 50-150 on the other

I bought a D1x body recently to join the two bodies club. I bought something compatible with my main body that I could leave in the car boot without worry or take to work with me.
