all pebbly beaches round there as I recall...you'll need to head further West or north of the Thames estuary...

There's a sandy beach in newhaven but you can only get to it at low tide. Not exactly secluded but nowhere near as busy as Brighton. Been a long time since I've been down there so don't know what condition it is in these days.
