Hi all,

I am looking for data on various countries' economic performance, which has to be from a reliable source that I can reference! The data I am mostly concered about are: -

- Desposable income
- GDP
- Money in circulation and in deposits M0, M1, M2 and M3

This I need for the following countries: -

- Saudi Arabia
- UK
- USA
- Kuwait
- Malaysia
- Russia
- India
- Brazil

If anyone can point me to a good source of such data I would be very appreciative.

Thanks.

Try the Economist website.

Anthony.

Thank you, I have :). The Economist have Econimist Intellegence Unit (EIU) that do produce some fantastic reports which contain all this data, but they charge a huge amount for it. I think it is about £500 per country, if not more!

I am sure there are journals, or sources out there where I can get this type of data from. I hope someone can point me in that direction.

Again, thank you for the suggestion and for taking the time to point this to me.

Wail,

have you tried the CIA website? Loads of information here - CIA World Factbook

You thought I was kidding, didn't you? ;)

Bob,

Thank you for the link . I will check it out to see if it has the data I need.

GDP can be found on Wikipedia. Look at references for the numbers carefully though.

Defiance,

Thank you ; as useful Wiki is for getting info. on the fly, it is not the sort of source I can, or would want to, use to reference :shake:

I'd avoid Wikipedia...the latest game is for journos to put a load of erronious data onto it and then see if any of their peers quote it

A copy of this should give you all the data you need for under a fiver. Should still be available in WH Smiths etc :)

Thank Flash, I will head to WHS tomorrow to check that out!

Usually, the latest copy of the economist has the tables printed at the back with all the above info for major countries

Yes, thank you. The Economist do publish such data every now and then, but not every week. Also, I need this data on a historical trend going back a few years!

Again, thank you for the suggestion.

another suggestion I have is, if you know anyone who is currently at university, they tend to have access to an online database with vast amounts of info, and I'm sure you'd be able to find the above mentioned data on it,

:p

Thank you for the suggestion, it does seem like the best place to look failing getting the data from these countries' central banks.

As it so happens, I am at university :lol::lol:, doing a postgrad. degree; but finding this sort of data isn't readily available in the "raw" format that I've been looking for :shake:

You're at uni and can't find the data?? You're not looking hard enough,

Here are a couple of links that should give you a wee helping hand ;)

W.H.O. OECD factbook

I'll be expecting a source reference in your report

Flash,

That is so nice of you to dig out these links for me, thank you .

Yes, I haven't been able to dig out the data I want; it seems that every great mind suffers from a mental block every now and then, and it seems my mind is going through that fase right now.

Sadly, there are two data elements that I can't retrieve from the links you've given me. 1) data for 2007 and 2008, and 2) from the OECD link, data for Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Kuwait. Still, a lot of useful raw data there :)

Again, thank you for the time, effort and links.

You won't get any econimic data for 2008, the recession hasn't started year hasn't finished yet ;)

Have you tried looking for oil industry related sites?

I was hoping for 2008 I would be able to get a month-by-month data trend, I can do a simple forecast for the last couple of months of 2008 (and that shouldn't be a problem given the prevailing situation).

Oil industry data source, good one , I will check that out asap :).

Thank you :)
