I ordered some compact flash kingston ultra 266x , I aslo by mistake ordered some SDHC 120x but actually although they say it is this speed there is no where that it states this so a bit concerned as to the actual speed as the only place it states this is on the invoice, also one of my comapct flash did not arrive, they sent eah one in a seperate envelope, the truth is i have ended up with 4 sdhc, now my camera does take this and wanted only 2, I should have checked the confirm order as I never ordered some of it. anyway how does compact flash perform in a 1ds mk 3 and how can i be sure it is 120x speed as it does not state it on the packet anywhere, the company I ordered from is 7day shop. Has anyone heard anything about them.
Regards Steve

quite a few people have recommended them too me for by memory cards so would think they are ok but i have never used them myself so wouldnt be definate. If you havent opened the packaging when not contact them about sending the ones that are wrong back and getting the correct ones sent out.

just want to know either way if i keep them or not what the difference to compact flash is. IT may be just as good, it is much smaller and lighter in size and with the 1ds mk 3 you can use either or both.

SDHC cards are slightly slower than CF, however, unless you are going to let rip at 10 fps there shouldn't be a problem. I use both in my camera at the same time. SDHC for landscape work and to store saved settings and CF when I need the fps. Kingston cards have a good reputation and I've just ordered a couple of 8Gb cards from 7dayshop as they are so cheap.
I've used 7dayshop many times and never had a problem. They often send things out in separate envelopes to keep the value down and avoid customs charges.

I can recommend 7DayShop too, used them several times without any issue...

Well hopefully my missing 4gb card turns up but strange how the other 3 kingston cf cards arrive 6 packets in all and one not arrived. keep the old fingers crossed.
One question about your answer, you say the sdhc are not as fast but does that not really boil down to the speed of the card, is not a 233x in any format as fast as each other, or do you mean they do not make sdhc cards that fast.
Regards Steve

I use SDHC cards most of the time in my 1D MKII and 1DS MKII, prefer them to compact flash cards, although I can't really tell any difference in speed -in camera, the SDHC cards are way faster transferring (or viewing on) computer.

Valid statements about card speeds really require the backup of evidence from benchmarking software. My tests show that SanDisk Extreme III SDHC cards are faster than ordinary Extreme III CF, but not as fast as the newer 30MB/s type (also called Extreme III). Kingston 100x are slightly faster than ordinary Extreme III CF for writing, but slightly slower for reading.

Some manufacturers lie about the capabilities of their products, but bear in mind that testing in a USB reader/writer will limit the speeds of fast cards, yet will show up the cards that don't perform to spec.

There are occasional reports of problems with bent pins in cameras that use CF. There can be problems with SD, too, but it's likely only the card would be affected.

Just got my missing cf card this morning, i am a happ chappy
