Hi all,

Just about to upgrade to a 60D and this means that my CF cards are now no use!

Can anybody advise what speed SDHC card I should get to get the optimum performance from the 60D.

Essentially I can pay about £33 for 8Gb at 30Mb/s
or £30 for 16Gb at 15Mb/s

I will be using the quick fire mode and I might even use the HD video recording facility (well I'll give it a go at least!).

Is 15Mb/s good enough from people's experience or should I stop titting about and cough up for the 30Mb/s cards.

Appreciate any guidance - many thanks.

Steve

I got an 8gb Sandisk Ultra as part of the deal with my 60D but as I also have a 450D I have a selection of SD HC cards from 2gb to 8gb and they all work fine with my 60D.

I have used the video facility and quick fire mode with no problem at all....

Most of mine are Kingston from 7 day shop....never had a problem (touch wood)

Thanks all for the advice - sounds like I can't go wrong and don;t need to spend over the odds.

Cheers for the quick replies!

I just bought 2x8Gb Transcen cards for £15.38 delivered.
Rather have a few separate cards in case I lose one, or they get corrupted.

Its' not a major hassle to change them over during a shoot.

Lots of bad reviews about transcend cards on amazon, I'd rather pay the extra for Sandisk and not risk losing my pictures. Also if you want to record video you will need a class 6 card or higher.

The one I linked to is Class 10 so should be fine for video. I've only done a couple of 1080p test videos on mine so far but they seemed fine - no dropped frames. There's a speed test here showing them to be only slightly slower than Sandisk Extreme

Also there doesn't seem too much difference between the number of negatives for Transcend Class 10 and Sandisk Extreme on Amazon - both 4.5 stars overall.

That said Sandisk is probably better for warranty and so on, but it's a lot more pricey!
