Hi recently got a Nikon D3100 and looking to get a Sd card. Thinking about sticking to a 16Gb card. Any recommendations?

Have been told to stay away from any cards from Ebay!

16GB is probably more then enough, especially if you're using JPEG.

I used Sandisk, they're fine although the standard blue ones are quite slow. I've got a 4GB Sandisk extreme which is really nice and quick which makes a big difference when using continuous shooting (I'd image the 16GB version is probably quite expensive). I got mine from play.com.

Have also used Samsung in the past, no problems with them.

Just remember that if you get one 16GB card and the unthinkable happens........ie the card somehow gets corrupted, lost, damaged, etc, you'll lose everything on the card. Buy a couple of 8GB or even 4x 4GB cards and you'll at least have some security to fall back on.

I have a 16gig in the camera for day to day and 2 x 4gig in the bag 'just in case' either if the 16 fills up or stops for some reason.

Those should be fine for you but as mentioned above the standard blue ones can be slow, take a look at the Extreme series or something class 4+

and yes, avoid ebay for SD cards you just don't know if you're getting real or fake

With sd cards you get what you pay for, make sure you buy a genuine card from a good brand. 16gb is massive, you'll be pushed to fill it shooting jpeg
