SD card or Camera

I got a lot of recently shot images- coming out Blank / Black on Photoshop- when clicked they are simply not there- apart from the file names

Over a 3 day shoot - it seems the middle section ( day 2) is just missing aprt from the random image top right of the screen

anyone have a suggestion??

Forgive the phone shot of my PC screen

I do format the SD card after each shoot - funny only day 2 did not record the images correctly or at ALL :) Day 1 and 3 perfect

The fact it is generating file names indicates the card is fine - and it might be the camera. When you click on the file names outwith PS say in win10 browser are the file sizes comparable with the ones which aren't blank?

Have you tried any other software, using any other card etc?
 
Not at all- I just deleted them- I looked on the SD card on my camersa - NO file names- I have inserted another SD card and re-set my camera

Im out tomorrow, see how it performs then

I called Sony UK and told them about the issue. Common it seems with old used SD cards. I installed a brand new 64Gb card works 100% now

Just in case anyone else has this issue with a camera

I used a recovery programme and I now have all the images back - the card is faulty :(

I bought 2 x 128GB class 10 cards - coming today apparently

Les, Do you format in computer or camera. I have always been told that should be camera as in computer can be risky.

Just to make some people wince.. that’s one of my cards. Been to the CA 4 times, parts of Europe and lived for 2 years in an old MacBook as an extra storage - hence the break! Bit of tape and works just fine

If I’m honest not much! The odd wedding every so often but mostly for just me! Think they were just on offer on amazon a while ago, so though,, why not
 
Many wedding photographers I know only use small cards. The reason being if a card goes down it limits how much they lose.
 
keep an eye on your SD cards they do (physically) wear with the constant use of in and out of the camera and in and out of the reader or computer slot

the contacts within the camera/computer/card reader are quite delicate and bits can break off the car and damage the contacts - I've had one card with a small plastic bit break off the side and another where the end of the card with the contacts just came apart ........
 
I've not had a failed SD card, though I've had some sockets become unreliable over time.
