Hello all

I'm in the position to potentially acquire an old Howtek D4000 drum scanner which uses SCSI connections. Would the best bet be to get a SCSI card to put in the PC hooked up to it or to get a SCSI-USB cable?

The PC will be using Windows XP if it's of any importance

Thanks in advance
Rob

Personally I'd say scsi pci card if you can find a compatible one. Rules out any scsi to USB niggles.

That's awfully nice of you, I'll put a thread up in the wanted section so as not to annoy the mods

Sorry to jump in on someone else's thread, but are SCSI<>USB interfaces actually made?
I've been looking for something like that to link SCSI stuff to a laptop.

The answer seems to be no, Adaptec made on a decade or so back but I can't find anyone making them now.

I no longer use SCSI devices, so haven't kept up. I think the computer with 64 bit PCI SCSI card and all the drives is in the loft still, blimey that used to be noisy with them all spinning at 15k rpm.

we've got an old mac pro kicking around with a scsi card in for our old large format printer which got scrapped recently.

theres no real need for it these days (if you can actually find any hardware running it), and getting working drivers for new OS are a complete arse ache.

I managed to pick up the terminator for the scanner SCSI ports, looks like a 50 pin centronics?
