Script Writer (EBS Scripts version 2.14)

The comma thing I spotted in a post whilst googling the problem. There was no explanation of why it worked then either :D

Editing working fine now thank you.

Can I just check, how long should it be taking to complete the running of the scripts? Taking a couple of minutes here, eating 2GB ram in the process. This on Vista 32, quad core Q6600 @ 3GHz with however much of 4GB RAM a 32 bit OS will use :)

Beginning to think I need CS4.

Try the script "Resize 800 only" this should complete in 2 seconds if that. The thing causing the delay is the text writing routine and this is down to photoshop. I have totally re-written both sections. When I re-wrote the borders section is speeded up from taking 15-20 seconds to complete the borders to about 2 so I posted the big speed improvement THEN I re-wrote the text routine but the new text routine uses the PARAGRAPHTEXT setting which allows me to accurately place multiline text exactley in the middle of a border and allow centering and left/right justification. PARAGRPHTEXT is, for some reason, much slower BUT I think the extra benefit of precision and quality makes up for it. I am looking at other alternatives to increase the speed for the next version.

Oh and it isn't taking 2 minutes on my Macbook pro (2x2.5GHz, 4Gb) just maybe 10-12 seconds for EBS - Default!

EBS - Default is flying. Couple of seconds as you say. It's the more complicated scripts. I'll try removing some text (I don't really need it all :)).

Thanks for the reply.

*added*

Drop shadow with no text is super quick too. I'll start playing til my heart's content now (and maybe read the manual :D).

*another edit*

paid :)

Thank you very much for registering. Remember to send me a link to your web site if you want a link adding.

I think version 2.10 was virtually as big an upgrade as verson 2.00 !

Woops

Nobody including me and the beta testers noticed that the fonts have not worked since version ONE !!!!

Oh well I have now fixed it.

NOTE

Anyone upgrading from version 1.?? or 2.00 or 2.01 follow the normal upgrade instructions for version 2.10 and install completely as normal.

Anyone who has already installed version 2.10 can simply run the script "UPGRADE 2_1 to C.js" and this will replace the files that have changed which are : EDITOR - EBS Data.js and all the scripts.

Version 2.11 in about another week :)

suggestion box open again !

Don't forget to keep looking back at the first few posts which are updated constantly with changes as they are made. The first few new features of version 2.11 are already listed.

Oh and anyone who has any interesting picture frames lying around, could they scan or photograph them and send me a hi-res picture. I am trying to include 20-30 REAL picture frames in version 2.11 (which will make far more use of the graphical border overlay). Ditto for name plates, especially blank ones.

If you could send them to "RawPics@UpgradeYourMac.co.uk" also if anyone can send me a RAW file zipped up taken of a piece of paper with the following information written on it "Camera, lens, current frame count, user name" this will help me to make sure that the EXIF data in this program and the forthcoming EXIF browser will be compatible with YOUR camera !

I'm off now to the International Jewellery Spring Fair at Birmingham so no replies for a few hours :) probably.....

Hi cowasaki,

Just downloaded the latest version. The script is looking good :thumbs:

I have a couple of issues though.

1, I cant edit the "Bottom Text" field, it is cut off at the bottom of the editor window (the window isn't big enough for the editor, and no scroll bars).

2, Is there any way to get the copyright to the bottom rather than the side ?

Cheers,

Ok, having spoken to another user yesterday I realised that I am getting rather carried away running a 1920x1200 screen and that not every has this option. For that reason I have now updated my screen layout for the next version.

However I have added a separate download option in the downloads section so that people can download the editor with the new screen size now rather than waiting.

(1) - see post above

(2) - yes just load the editor and type in the over ride section for the bottom with whatever you want eg "Copyright bill bloggs 2009" if you want to include the copyright symbol the text you must type is "\xA9" so making it "Copyright \xA59 2009 Bill Bloggs" you will also need to untick the "or use EXIF" field.

I will have a play tonight/tomorrow prior to making a donation.

Good man! :thumbs:

I have to admit, for setting up my online galleries, this is by far the most useful piece of software I have!

Thanks for the support we now have 500+ downloads (obviously some will be multiple) so there are a good few people using it.

Do you use the batch facility?

I am working on an upgrade to that for version 2.11 which will give you a further screen after the one that asks about the target file type. You will now get to supply all the options pertinent to that so for example if you select jpg you will be able to select the quality, maximum file size etc etc.

OK, i've tried it.

I am wanting the EXIF data and the copyright on the bottom. At the moment it looks like its either/or.

Is it me or is this not possible ?

Ta.

Yes you can add more text using the "Copyright text" option on page 2. This will allow you to add the text ANYWHERE on the image with lots of extra options such as angle, warp, alternative font etc etc

So in your case untick the right hand text option and tick "Copyright Text - ON" on the second page. You then need to PLACE your text using the X and Y options. The X and Y fields are (by default) set at percentage although you can change this to be absolute to any corner by changing that option too. Do this using the normal options for EXIF at the bottom.

This script has been going a long time and most things people want to do can be done somehow :) Anything that cannot be done can be added ;)

I require a cup of coffee - when are you going to implement THAT in the script? You'd better include the tea-drinkers, and maybe an option for alcoholic beverages for the 18+ users...

The development speed has come from not having to spend 3 days pondering over some problems because a very kind sole has been able to answer pretty much every question I have got stuck with :)

Thanks ;)

Upside down text! You are a bit flash :)

It was pencilled in for version 2 but health ad safety gave it a big no no so unfortunately I had to remove it at the last minute !

The laptop was upside down:)

You might like to add the function for you next release....

Code:
$.writeln(flipText("hello world"));

function flipText(inputString){
var str = inputString.toLowerCase();
var str2=[];
for(var i =0;i<str.length;i++){
str2.push(str[i]);
	}
str2 =str2.reverse().join('');
str=[];
var backwards = "ɐqɔpǝɟƃɥıɾʞlɯuodbɹsʇnʌʍxʎz";
for(var z=0;z<str2.length;z++){
if(str2.charCodeAt (z)-97 >= 0 && str2.charCodeAt (z)-97 <26){
	str.push(backwards[str2.charCodeAt (z)-97]);
	}else{
 str.push(str2[z]);
 }
	}
return str.join('');
}

Why not, I will add a "Flip" option to the 'Place it anywhere' copyright text section on page 2 !

Just added a recursive option to the batch processor!

You can now select a folder and batch process all the files in all the folders inside it (but this is an option!).

Script writer news 5th February 2009:

Batch processor being worked on with some really big changes being made. You can now select a folder and the processor will work on all the folders inside that folder, you will also get an option screen to set the file type specific options (which can be saved as a default). There are also going to be "AUTO" as a file type which saved the file as the original type and "PSD" which obviously saves the file as a Photoshop specific file type.

Does anybody use any other file types?

Also adding a black and white conversion process into the EBS scripts so you can batch convert to black and white. Which processes do people like for black and white?

Any other ideas people want implementing?

Black and white conversion process now added and working plus minor problem in the batch processor is working too. Just a few small bits to sort before version 2.11 released

Now released: Version 2.11

Well version 2.11 is now released. Lots of bug fixes and a number of both minor and major changes.

The biggest changes are to the batch processor which now has vastly more functions than before. Also the batch processor can now handle an entire directory tree rather than just one directory.

Batch211.png

The "EDITOR - EBS DATA" program has now been changed to 3 screens rather than 2 in order to allow more functions

There is now a Black and White field allowing a choice of different processes

There are now a number of added graphical borders with the new option to flip them automatically to fit better with Portrait/Landscape

In "EBS scripts"
> A number of new real frames!
> Option to "Flip" graphical frames automatically for portrait / landscape pictures.

In "Photo Gallery"
> Fixed - Looks for USER DATA.lib in old location, cannot find it and assumes not running as part of app so variables are default.

Don't forget you can download high quality versions of the borders from the download section. They are quite large so I have split them off meaning you do not need to keep downloading the large files but watch out when you upgrade in case they get overridden.

Found a problem with the EXIF reader when it comes across EXIF data containing two commas next to each other, as happens on the D1x (you'll never guess what camera I have just bought :)).

Therefore I have added a few lines to fix the problem completely and will be uploading the new version in about 10 mins. No need to upgrade for anyone unless they own a D1x OR they are getting an error when adding a border displaying either EXIF data or the DATE which is set to read from EXIF data.

I've only just got round to starting to test version 2.11. I'm having a few problems with this version (have reverted to older version just now). Dont have time today to detail, but will email you tomorrow with info - seems to be crashing when doing text alignment in PS Elements 7 on Vista. Have tried changing text alignments to no avail - will take a screenshot tomorrow...

Cheers,
Stewart.

You cannot right align on Elements by the way.

I will be releasing version 2.12 in a few days which will include all the checks for Elements and stop it trying to do things it cannot do plus a number of fixes for specific cameras etc.

Version 2.12 has now gone to BETA test.......

Just had a chance to DL this and having a play.

Is there anyway to get the diagonal watermark text to sit horizonitally in the middle of the picture?

My X and Y mathmatics are abysml. :'(

Set it to percentage then calculate how wide the text will be, just of your screen.

If say your entire photo (including the borders) is 20cm wide on your screen and the text is 8cm wide then the percentage you need is:

100/20 = 5 (% per cm)

(20/2) - (8/2) = 6 half way line - half text width

multiple 6 x 5 = 30%

stick this in the y coordinate box then repeat the same for the x coordinate. As you have set it to percentage this will then work for any pictures size. If it is not quite right you can just make an adjustment till you are happy.

Ok, I will give that a try. Cheers for the advice.

Very impressed with it and will more than likely become a purchaser of it once I get home from work this evening.
