Iterested to find out what people use in these harsh freezing conditions .

I use neat comma screen wash and a shot of vinegar to stop the streaks :)

Asda had a good deal on their own screenwash, 2.5L for £1. Mixed 1:1. Cheap as chips and does the job fine.

I bought 500ml of Holts stuff from a Shell service station this week for £3.50, mixed 1:1 and lasted no time. Wasn't all that great either.

Tesco undiluted stuff mixed with pressure washer soapy stuff stuff.

I bought some of that on Saturday, good deal. Not used any yet, at the moment I'm still on Halfrauds ready mixed super winter screenwash which was on 3 for the price of 2 earlier this year.

picked up all my supply fro this winter from sainsburies , £0.37 for a 1 litre bottle , so i got 6 of them

I just use a load of Netto cheapy washing up liquid. It freezes but who needs to see wheere your going anyway.

I do however also carry a small garden sprayer with the same that I leave on the radiator in the house at night. Just in case I want to see whats in front.

Halfords stuff here as well, but I can't find it so running too diluted right now - I had to add a half-litre of hot water to the slush-puppy that now lives in my screen-wash reservoir before driving on saturday night.

I use meths diluted in water, seems to work for me.

About 25% Holts all weather topped up with water. Hasn't frozen solid yet but it's warmer here than other parts of the country. Sainsbury's own brand de-icer spray and Holts windscreen degreaser help reduce ice formation and keep the screen nice and clean to help the squirters do the job.

Heated jets and heated washer bottle!

Still use Halfords finest undiluted though (never understand why people by the ready diluted stuff...its so expensive!)

Needless to say we use Renault branded stuff undiluted, but its pretty much the same as all the others and has worked so far down to -5 or -6, which is as low as its got here so far.

Doesn't that eat into your profit margins though? Surely it's worth about £50/litre when used to top up customers' bottles during services?

 Nah, not really, it retails at 79p a litre, so compared to some 'branded' stuff, its actually quite cheap, albeit still double what supermarkets are charging - and we get de-icer from a third party very cheap too, so basically, because we are nice like that, the staff rarely pay for de-icer unless they are off on holiday when they need it.

As an aside, there is a new Halfords opening at the top of our road next week, so if I can bear the attentions of the usually clueless staff, I might pop in and pick up some of theirs for our own cars as it seems to be well received here. ;)

I have just changed over to holts and have some halford double concentrate stuff. and I finally have washers that work straight away from a cold engine at -2 today! previously I used the asda stuff but even neat it just frooze in the pipes. It got to the stage where they were not even defrosting on a 50 mile journey so dangerous on the roads. Wont use a cheapy again.

Years ago i had the idea to cut into the pipe from bottle to jet, i then extended it and coiled it around the top radiator hose and then back to rejoin the run to the jet. The heat from the rad hose heated the fluid and cleaned the screen loads better. My inspiration was thrying to wash my dinner pots in cold water, much better with hot. No it didnt bust the windscreen and it was fantastic in winter and summer.
Trouble nowadays is that you cant even see the washer bottle let alone get to the motor eaily.

Got a 5L bottle of Holts High Performance Screenwash from Costco. Does down to -36 if used neat, -16 when mixed one to one & -6 when mixed one to four. Proper stuff :D

un branded 25L drum for £7 does me a treat, mixed 1:3 with water and a dash of anti freeze (maybe 25ml ish)

Cheap as chips and works a treat with my PIAA silicone wipers

Dont bother using Tesco's screenwash. I bought a bottle of the ready made stuff "with antifreeze" got it out of the car at the weekend and it was frozen solid

Bought some from Halfords now, seems to be doing the job

Fairy Liquid for me & keeps my hands soft.:):D:p:thumbs:
