Yes
There is a mark on my sensor on my 450d. I don't think it's dirty, it looks more of a scratch, tiny about 1mm long. It appears on photos (to the naked eye) when using slow shutter speeds of 0.5 seconds or less. Is it possible to be cleaned/fixed say at a jessops? If yes any one any idea how much it costs?
Thanks
Chris

You can get cleaning tools to do it yourself or if you don't feel up to it you can get a pro to do it, not sure how much it costs.

Calumet sometimes do free sensor cleaning when they have an in store exhibition on.

I'd struggle to think of a way you've permanently scratched it. Have you tried a rocket blower or similar to blow off the thing you're seeing?

when you're cleaning the sensor make sure you use the sensor cleaning function in the menu to lock the mirror up and avoid any damage to the mirror mechanism.

To be honest i think i did it when i cleaned it using the manual cleaning mode. I have been back to it and tried again and it wont budge as in its not a piece of fluff or anything, unless things stick to the sensor like super glue! So does anyone know how much it costs to get it cleaned?

The good news is you won't have damaged the sensor, it will be the anti-aliasing filter which covers the sensor.

Most good camera shops can do a wet clean if you don't want to do it yourself.

Excellent news, put my mind at rest thanks!

And the bad news is they normally change the filter + sensor as one unit....cost is normally about what the camera is worth. On my 1DIII it was £1000 but it will below lower for other models.

Sometimes fluff sticks to the sensor that needs a wet clean to shift, sometimes you even get stuff behind the filter but that isn't usuable cleanable, so again - it might be an expensive repair.

Get it wet cleaned and go from there.

Wait until Sunday evening and pop over to my gaff in Wythehawe ill check it and wet clean it for you. Might just be sticky dust. I'm way until Thursday night shooting a wedding but ill pm you details of where I am.

My elderly 300D has a tiny bit of fungus growing on the sensor under the filter glass.
With hindsight it has been stored too damp I think.

I really appreciate the offer ( this forum really js helpful!) but my time is limited at weekends so i think it'll be a trip to jessops for a wet cleaning kit and I'll give it a go myself. Thank you again.

plenty of demos on you tube of how to do it yourself and what works best
