Yes
Is there any way to remove scuffs and marks off a lens hood?
I managed to mark my lens hood by bouncing in off the laminate floor.
Is there a way to remove it safely?
Thanking you people in advance for any advice.

Does it matter?

Mine are marked, but that's because they are used as protection along with their more usual function

Unfotunately yes if its a borrowed lens from a mate soon to be non mate as he is quiet particular.

Kit is there to be used, not treated like a baby. Just buy a new hood as parts if you really care.

Bit of T-cut might work if they are only light marks

Think it might have to be a new one though, just hope it's not one of the more expensive Canon ones

As long as it was just the hood that bounced (and not with the lens attached) I wouldn't worry about it. You can get some cutting compound and then finer finishing polish, but it'll be quite a bit of work and there's no guarantee you'll remove it completely. You also need to be careful you don't make matters worse trying to remove the scratch.

I'd probably leave it alone, explain it to him and if he's really that bothered and you are, you could offer to buy a replacement lens hood ...

Hope you get it sorted out.

I'd just go ahead and get a new hood. When you return the lens and new hood you can decide what to tell him depending on his comments.

But whatever he says you've done the right thing.
