Scratch on lens

Hey does any1 know of a way to remove scratches from a lens glass

You cant usually. they are coated, so trying anything will remove the coating.

It shouldnt show up in any pictures, so just leave it be.

still wont show up- on a picture... resale value for scratched lens and dust inside takes a bit of a hammering.. but usage it wont show..

Basically my mate had borrowed my camera his house flooded one lens was filled with dirty water and the other that he thought he'd saved is sumhow scratched and his insurance won't pay out cause he didn't tell them he had the lenses in his house

What about the water damaged lens it's dried out but its covered in dirty water marks on the inside

A service centre can disassemble it and clean it but it probably wouldnt be cheap.

What lens is water damaged and what lens is scratched? Water damage sounds terminal, but might be worth asking for a repair estimate from a Canon repair centre. A scratched lens shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'd get in contact with a good repair shop and see what my own insurance covers.

Your mate should buy new kit for the damaged ones. That is only fair. What if he smashed up your car?! End of thread

I do think he should help towards the costs if new or repair,after all you were good enought to lend them to him.

agreed. if loaning equipment it should be done on a "you break it, you pay for it" basis. whether that means they add it to their insurance before hand or they have to get a loan for pay for breakage after..
