Scot's Quine's 52 week challenge - 2022 - WK 52 added

Lovely capture... so well timed. How many shots does it take to get the "right" one?

A nice image Joan, captures the sleekness of a whippet well.

As it is only a puppy he is not as stretched out as far as a full grown whippet. That comes as they grow a bit older. It's a bit easier to get 'good' shots of the pups as they 'race' on their own. When there are 4 dogs in a race they are normally a bit bunched up together so a bit more difficult to get a clean shot of a dog fully extended. This is a fully grown whippet at max stretch.

For the 55 races I did last Sunday I took around 400 shots - about 8 per race but those shots cover from when they leave the traps until they pass me about half way up the track. One race every two and a half minutes so quite a slick operation.

Really good Joan. Looks like a wall hanging.
What's the blue background on the lower half?

Beautiful image Joan, it definitely takes you second shot to another level.

Brilliant shot

I'm not sure what this is, I'm guessing it is a candle holder. Sorry, but I'm afraid it does nothing for me as it seems to be rather blurry.

I like this Scott, as an example of a monotone, high-key image. I don't think that the softness is too much of a distraction from the feel of the image. I don't have any idea what it is but, having read Martin's comment above, I now think it's candle holder as well.

It's a vase looking down. The softness is intentional....................Lacking a bit in energy and imagination this week. Must do better!

WEEK 18 - SUNSET

For the first time ever I am going to have to post an archive shot. Weather has been against me all week with rain and cloud.
This was taken (11) years ago when I had just bought my first DSLR. Taken at Hopeman in Moray. Home of big skies. Straight out of the camera.

Week 17 - sunset.jpg

Very nice indeed, isn't the combination of sun and high cloud just wonderful!

"Red sky at night, shepherd's delight".
The texture of the cloud and the rocky headland left all add to the interest.

That's a fabulous shot. For a minute I thought you'd been amazingly lucky having read your post in the chat thread. Gorgeous colours.

Holes and sunset are lovely shots. Gorgeous colours in the sunset shot

A cracking shot... such an amazing sky!
I've be a bit like you.. waiting for the weather to play ball all week.

I could have entered these but thought the wee pup was a different image.

He's gonna be fast when he grows up.
My eye is drawn to the second for some reason, but they are all good.
Nice idea to shoot the pup.

Love the shot Joan, I thought that the red and white ribbons were the dogs costume when I first looked at it :D

Great fun shot!

Thank you all. It's great to shoot the puppies as you never know what they will do. And it's amazing they all have the 'prey' gene at such an early age. I just love shppting the whippets even if I am a 'cat' person. And the cakes at half time are not too shabby either!
