Hi all - I have just put a message on the Introduction part of this forum, however, I also need to be sure this message gets the correct responses in good time...

I came across the name of this site through a search based on 'fake' sellers. This site was mentioned as being a good place to keep up to date with all things photography-related, as well as being a handy aid to sniff out too-good-to-be-true online deals. I obviously love my photography and I know my partner is looking to buy me a special christmas gift this year - a Nikon D5100. I know I ought to post in the correct section, but i'll mention here that I found a site - procamerashop.co.uk .... I need to know pretty soon if this shop is good or not. I dread my partner spending money on a fake site ... i'd feel awful both for the loss of his money, not to mention the disappointment for us both at being conned. Doesn't help we are trying to also save for our wedding next year. The kit i've looked at is the camera body with the 18-55mm DX VR lens - priced at around £370 currently on procamerashop. I already managed to steer clear of olimpic-cameras, after having done some digging into them through reviews. Problem is, they are crafty enough to make sure they have on-site reviews, pasted from other sites no doubt.

I also found a site - SLR Hut .... is this one any good?

Please help me find the cheapest, REAL site.... :help:

I bought from Hdew last time and they provided a decent service.

Panamoz and Digital Rev get my vote, bought off both
with no problems what so ever.

Give the TP forums a good few hours reading.
Then you'll know the pro's, and cons of buying from different places. (UK Vs HK)
My advice?...research, more research, then some more research to be sure!!

Amazon will sell you the D5100 with 18-55mm for £404 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-18-55...UHTQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354633586&sr=8-1

You get your £55 cashback bringing the price down to £349.00

Panamoz is a good supplier but I don't know if you can claim the cash back on purchases from them.

looks like the above deal from Amazon would be your best bet, cheaper than even Hong Kong supplier after you've claimed the cashback, and you'll have the peace of mind with a full UK warranty!
Also, you can collect nectar points with Amazon (if you shop at Sainsburys!)
:)

or if you want to buy a second user item, mpb, camtech, mifsuds, t4, ffordes...

Thank you for all the replies - i'm sorry it has taken so long to respond (difficulties with a terminally ill family member mean I can sometimes let internet-based chat slide).

I did take comments on board and in the end, settled on the Amazon offer for Christmas. :)

xxxx

I've bought from ProCameraShop and have had no issues.

SLRHut are in the US and have a nasty habit of quoting prices less taxes and duty and then adding them on when you go to check out. All of a sudden a decent price goes out of the window.
