I have had a slide scanner for some time and have only really started using it lateley. It wasnt a cheapo one but cost around £250 if i remember rightly. It does get semi decent results but some pics are very grainy with grains of different colours. Is this just the nature of a lower end slide scanner or can this effect be improved someway ?

Hello Steven,

Really, £250 won't buy you a great film scanner, but even so, when you get to a certain magnification you'll start to see grain. Perhaps this slide is underexposed a little?

The software will allow you to adjust how the image turns out. The best way to scan is to set it up manually rather than rely on auto. Is this an auto scan? The shadows don't look right to me.

Thats colour noise your seeing, a run through your noise removal software should clean that up a lot.
