Can anyone recommend any companies who scan slides and negatives for you? I have a Minolta scanner but it takes ages and I've got about 500 slides I want to digitise.

I've done a search on google and Mr Scan seems to be pretty reasonable, anyone on here use them or anyone similar?

Price and not quality is the most important factor to me for this one, what I'm after is someone who can make these images computer accessible for me so I can cherry pick the very best and have just those few scanned at a high quality.

How much are they going to charge for 500 negs?

I don't know what you have already but I saw this in an email from Novatech the other day, it seems pretty quick (claims 1sec in enhanced mode) will hold 6 slides at a time and it's not expensive £80 plus del.

I'd have to check the price again but it's around 25p per scan for a medium quality jpeg. Have a good quality Minolta Dual Scan that scans in about 15secs, but then there's save time and previewing that takes age - it takes about an hour to scan 50 or so!

So about 125 squids? doesn't sound too bad if it's a one time deal and they do a good job.

Mind you you still have all that previewing to do once you get them back...
