Just after a bit of advice, My middle sister is going to be sending me a batch of old family photos after going through our Mums old boxes, she sadly passed
March this year aged 67 . Would I be right is scanning them at 600dpi, which I hope to try and clean up in LR and store them online. as my youngest sister lives
in Vancouver Island

Cheers in advance

Shaun I've used 600 ppi ok for print scans, and it's more than some prints deserve, I wouldn't go any higher. Negs or slides of course are a different matter. Dust specks might be the bane.

If it was a wet print, it probably was, you might be able to bump that up a but further depending on the quality of the paper the limit is ultimately the papers grain.

Go for 600dpi. ( I wouldn't be surprised if 300 wasn't good enough ) Print paper is surprisingly low in resolution, mainly 'cos it doesn't need to be high. Surface texture though can be a problem in some cases
