I have a load of old photos and postcards to scan in. Tried one very faint one and it just awful. There's no detail in it at all.
How do I get a reasonable scan or should I forget it and photograph them with a tripod and normal camera? Or should I be putting some kind of matt filter under the postcard to reduce glare?
Fiddled with a few vuescan settings. Tried auto levels and fiddling with levels post scan and there's still nothing. Took a snap with my mobile phone with the flash turned off and that is loads better.
