A friend of mine has asked me to find out how she can scan 110. I do not have a clue on scanning full stop.
Could anyone help to provide an answer? :)

Well if she means the negatives then you need a film scanner or some people say:- they can use a digital camera to photograph the neg and convert using software.

110 was released and faded away before digital scanning and imaging was ever really a reality for most people, and as a result there are scant options when it comes to scanning it. The best bet is probably to try and sandwich it in 35mm holders, although that depends on the scanner and holders used.

There are adapters for scanner film holders to take 110 but their not cheap (£55 for the cheapest one I saw plus posatge from the USA!)

You might want to get a commercial service to do them as a lot of dedicated film scanners, especially Nikon Coolscan's, have 16mm film holders available and 110 film is essentially 16mm film. They will usually charge a small surcharge for 110 though as its a non standard sort of film.

It depends on how many she has though as I've attempted to scan 110 using the film adapter on an old flatbed and after an hour got about 1 usable scan.

She tells me she has a scanner that takes 35mm but can't find anything to take the 110?

With Epson software, you scan using the 35mm neg holder and then select the frame by the "lasso" tool (can't think of the name)...too slow for any quantity and I did post results but can't seem to find them on search and also it looks like all my posts over 6 months are deleted anyway  :cuckoo::nono:

I get the feeling that she has quite a few to do. She is gradually scanning all the photos and negs for her father. So that sounds like it may not be her best option but I will let her know about it.
Thanks :)

Look up your username on google, select 'discussions' on the left hand side, then 'forums' and then tell it arrange the results by date. Click on 'more results from talkphotography.co.uk' when you find it linking to one of your posts and it'll come up with anything that you've posted in. That way you can go back to any post/thread of yours. You can then of course add on other terms to search for.

I scanned about 200 photos from 110 negative earlier this year in my Epson V500. Obviously there isn't a 110 holder easily available so i made one out of black card that can take one strip of 110, the black card thing fits in the medium format holder that came with scanner. You do a preview scan in the Epson software then use the selection tool to select the frames on the negative and then do a proper scan.

It's a pain in the arse and took me a while but it got done.
