Yes
I only use my old PC for the odd time I need to scan or copy/print the odd item. My printer packed up followed by my scanner. I don't use it for regular printing as the free print service is sufficient for my needs, but most of the current all in ones are not compatible with XP as it's too old, any suggestions as to what might be out there that is? Or am I stuck looking for a used one.?

What you could do is put what you want to print onto a memory card such as an SD card and use an Epson XP-970 printer, this has an SD card slot. Also it is has a scanner

Most modern networked all in ones have an app that allows printing/ scanning from a smart phone, just transfer the file/s to your phone and print from there.( assuming you have a smart phone)

A general flatbed scanner that also has facilities for 35mm slides and 35mm & medium format negatives is the Epson v500 photo. The software will work with earlier versions of windows and a with a little bit of faff, win 10 and 11. I will be selling mine in a months time when I have finished digitising my medium format negs.

I'm not sure Vuescan will help. It provides universal scanners for older devices for modern OS. I think the OP wants the opposite - drivers for a modern device but using an older OS. I don't remember Vuescan being able to do that, but to be fair I don't think I ever tried.
