Hi All

I previously posted in this section asking for some help chosing a film camera.

thanks for you contribution i wil lbe the owner of a EOS 3.

now i will primarily shooting shooting Ilford Delta 400 film and wondering whats the best economical scanner to have so i can scan the photos.

I say econimical because i dont want to spend money for extra features i may use once or twice however i dont want to shortfall myself with a scanner that uselless. I havent got a budget as i am just starting in film and as with Digital i got the funds somehow. I guess if i put a ball park figure around 300 quid max.

thanks

Lee

Do you want to scan prints or negatives?

If it is just prints you can get a basic flat bed scanner for < 100 quid.

If you want to scan negs / transparencies than you need a flat bed scanner with a light in the top and bottom and dedicated holder. I have a CanoScan 8800F which I am pleased with. Others on here rate the Epsons. For this sort of kit you will spend no more than £130.

Your budget of 300 quid is in the middle won't get you any extra on a flatbed unless you are looking at A3.

Flatbeds are however slow. If you want more speed you need to look at Nikon Coolscans but you won't get any change from £500.

I would like to scan negatives for archival and editing purposes. I dont think i can push for 500 notes just yet.

I will look to see if there is a list of scanners for my criteria in that thread!

I use an Epson Perfection 3200, cost me £40 and I have printed to A0 without issue - I know I really ought to look at drum scanners etc but I love the easiness and the price was brilliant!!
