Followed advice in here and plumped for an Epson V500 scanner. I have spent the last 30 mins looking for posts re 35mm & 120 film neg. holders for use with the V500, having found mention last year of products which would improve scanning negs. I have now found reference to ScanAssist which I believe was the one which caught my eye, last year. (here in TP.)
Quite a few people recommend ScanAssist, and that it is a bargain compared with other holders prices.
TheGreatSoprendo stated he was buying one, and would update with his observations and results, but I don't think he posted any results, unless elsewhere in TP.
Looking for confirmation as to buying ScanAssist articles, unless there are any other/later products which have come on the market.
Please do not suggest a home made product - my username on a DIY forum is.........."entirelyuseless.":D

I did buy them and have used them a bit for curly negs, but I can't say I noticed any obvious improvement for flat negs, compared to the standard holders. But in all honesty I still can't say I've mastered scanning in any shape or form and probably am not in a good position to judge. I really just don't like doing it much!
 
I'm no expert but get along alright with the standard V500 holder. If the film isn't flat I put it in a pile of books for a few hours (not sure whether this can be bad for it!). Keep telling myself that I'lll send my favourite pictures off to be scanned professionally but not got round to it yet...
 
i got a couple of the scan assist plates for my 120 holders and they were great. For my 5x4's i just popped into the local market and had a word with the picture framer there, he cut me a couple of perfectly sized non reflective plates for a few quid. A little bit thinner than the scan assist glass but they work just as well.
 
my polaroid 4000 has a good holder but i agree they can be tricky to use.
curly film is funny trying to line it up
 
Thanks all for your interest and replies. Will have a look at alternatives which have been suggested.
