Last night I was browsing Amazon and saw someone had a 'Used, like new' Canon 50d body only for £530 plus postage. It was listed as in stock, in the UK.
Whilst suspicious at the low price, I thought it was worth a go as Amazon guarantee transactions up to £2000. I placed the order and got confirmation.
Today I got an email from Amazon to say my order had been cancelled but with no explanation. Then I saw I had two emails in my junk mail. It was supposedly from the seller (it had my details from payment to him from Amazon) saying that on Amazon it was saying it had none left but he did, and he wanted to know if I still wanted one. He just need to confirm my address then he would contact Amazon and get them to setup the transaction (which sounded weird).
Now I get an email back from 'Amazon':
Thanks for your order,Carl ***** ,

This email looks exactly like a genuine Amazon email but has been sent from 'pay-protection-order@live.com'. Also it wants payment via Moneygram, don't think Amazon would cover you for that!
Very dodgey, don't be tempted!

) plus a whole raft of expensive, but bargain-priced tvs listed yesterday, but their feedback seems to be mainly for £1.99 books. The words "hijacked account" spring to mind.......
