SB900 replacement?

Hi,

When I first started out I purchased two SB900's for £400 each and they've served me well for the last 10+ years, however, after an accident last Friday,1 of them is damaged.

It still works but the metal plate is slightly off tilt now and it looks wonky on the camera, but as they are now discontinued, what is the best replacement for them?

Why not a secondhand 900 or, better, a 910 without the thermal cutout issue? The current 5000 is more expensive, but under £500 at Amazon right now. The 700 is still available new, but is a bit of a downgrade.
 
I'm not a fan of second hand for professional use, for personal use I have a few second-hand lenses etc as well as the ones I use for weddings, plus, for insurance reasons I'd need something of a similar spec.
 
5000 it is then, or third party. Unless you get the 900 serviced.

Godox V860-II (or III now) They use a modern Li-ion battery rather than a bunch of AA cells, and understand the Nikon AWL optical control protocol, and later when you get bored of that (or like me you buy a D850 that has no pop-up to act as a commander) you can buy the X-Pro-N transmitter and control them via radio.

I can't really recommend OEM speedlights anymore. The price differential is just extreme for what you get compared to some third party offerings (i.e. Godox). A V850 Li-Ion is comparable to your SB900 in power/function (except less zoom range, and it has built in wireless as well); but it's hard to see any real advantage over the V860II except a slight cost difference. TBH, I don't see the changes of the V860iii as really being worth the price difference... but you could still buy 2 of them for the price of an SB5000.
