Yes
Just purchased an SB600 flash and want to be able to attach it to a Manfrotto compact light tripod for off camera flash. (cheapo) What do I need to buy to do this. Thanks in anticipation.

check if the flash came with a little stand (like a little foot). If it does, it may well have a tripod sized threaded hole in the bottom.

My SB600 came with a tripod adaptor foot as new. Cheapest option would be an elastic band, available free from most pavements on posties' routes - but that may not be adjustable enough.

No, nothing but the flash unit. Expecting an Amazon £20 voucher from sister-in-law. I'll use that. Being from Yorkshire, quite like the idea of the elastic band! Thanks for your help. Knew you wouldn't let me down.

I need it for races which are later in the day. One local run (9 times from April to September) is often a bit on the dark side. Just wanted to experiment with flash to see what effect I can get.
The river crossing is often shaded and/or the sun is low.
