Hi,

Hope someone can help, when I turn on my SB-600 all looks fine, no strange noises etc, but it wont flash, tried changing to new batteries and still no joy, it hasnt been dropped etc.

Any one any suggestions please?

Many thanks :(

Have you altered any settings on either the camera or the flash?

Do you mean it wont` fire off the hotshoe or with CLS or both?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, no I havent altered my settings (camera/flash) and my SB-400 still works fine on the camera, the SB-600 wont fire either on or off of the camera.

Hang on, i`ll go and get one out of the box.

Have you tried resetting it via the buttons on the back?

Sorry Tracy, out of suggestions now.Hopefully somebody with more knowledge on flashes can help you out.

*Wonders if the bulb is knackered*.......

I did wonder that too, which I think means being sent away to be fixed :(
but thanks for your help :)

Sounds like either a blown "bulb" or some internal problems...

Is it newish? Under warranty? If not, my advice - get it on ebay. For some reason, non working flashes seem to go for nearly as much as working ones. Take the money you get, add a little to it and get another.

Of course, you could send it for repair, but they'll not actually know what's wrong with it until they open it up, which I don't doubt they'll charge you for.

Try another set of batteries. It's not unheard of for a new set to be flat or faulty.

If not try cleaning the battery contacts.

Possibly clutching at straws but worth a try.

No not new was bought on here and has worked fine for quite some time, didnt realise that they went well on ebay, so think i will take a look and have a go at selling it and buying another one - thanks for the tip

was just going to say that exact thing. It's inevitable as 'flashing' any bulb is the quickest way to kill it :)
