Right if you have seen my other thread regarding the battery compartment door, then you will know I have been having problems with turning the sb600 on.

I now know what the problem is and it is the battery compartment door that is loose on it hinges.

I have try to tape it down and no luck, so the next step from here, is taking it to a shop to see if I can get a replacement door.

I live in mid Kent nr Maidstone, so does anyone know of a shop local to me that may be able to do a repair?

Thanks

Google says there's a "camera repair man" in Maidstone. But really I'd just send it in to Nikon.

Or if you're heading up to London then pop into Fixation in Vauxhall.

Send it to Nikon - it could be cheaper than you think. I smashed the plastic hotshoe on an SB28 and it ended up costing something like £26 including delivery and parts.

I had exactly the same issue with one of my SB600's. The door was a little loose. I ended up shooting a wedding with a battery elastic banded to the side to keep pressure on the door. Randomly, it now seems to have fixed itself..... no idea why / how!

A friend of mine has used the repair guy in Maidstone and is always raving about him, so might be worth a call

I have used A.M. technical services (Alan Marlow) before to replace a damaged card slot in my D200. First class service and great communication. Very reasonable too. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.
