Evening all,

Have been lurking about for a couple of weeks and thought I'd better get on the case and introduce myself. I'm Jon from Cheltenham and own a Web & Graphic Design agency.

Along with a general enjoyment of photography I also have a semi-professional interest in that I take a lot of product shots for our clients. I also have a bit of an obsession with watches and taking macro shots of said watches.

My current kit list is as follows:
  • Canon G7
  • Canon 30D
  • Canon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS
  • Canon 28mm f1.8
  • Canon 50mm f1.8
  • Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6
  • Canon Speedlite 430EX
  • Generic Extension Tubes (13mm, 21mm, 31mm)
  • Interfit Stella 150 Lights with Soft Boxes
  • Wireless Flash Trigger/Receivers
  • Fiberglass Cove
  • Background material as required

Here is a my little studio setup:

I generally use the 50mm lens as it's so versatile and sharp (and insanely cheap!) and crop up images a little like the following:

I use the 50mm lens with 65mm of extension tubes for the extreme macro shots like the following:

I am a bit lazy and don't generally take the 30D out and about with me so most shots are in the studio. Saying that, I've recently started taking pictures at some dances... but more about that later!

Anyhow, thanks for looking and I hope to contribute to the forum where possible and pick up some new tips/tricks!

Cheers
Jon

Hi Jon,

Welcome to the forum I have not been on here that long myself, its tough spending time on both TZ and here

Hi Bruce, isn't it just!!

I do enjoy a good lively/busy forum though... plenty to keep my mind off work :D

Hi and welcome to the forum, nice shots and setup.

Hiya, well your right in that it looks like a PloProf as that's exactly what it's been modeled on... quite controversial as Omega are going to be re-issuing the PloProf in an updated version later this year early next year.

So it's the same dimensions as the Omega, very wide but not that tall, fits my 6.75" wrist very well and is surprisingly comfy (pictures seem to suggest otherwise, you've really go to try it!):
