Saying Goodbye to my Works D3's

I think thats around the time my brother left PWRR.

Having to buy your own equipment now can potentially bankrupt you, i do feel sorry for your bank balance :'(

That's what two seperate amounts of Operational Allowance were for...:D

Got to love Wars...

Wiser investment than my my mate - came back, and blew his money on a car, booze and a remote control plane, which he flew into the newly brought car.

I expected nothing less of him though

Welcome to the peace comrade

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Better than blowing it all on women and vodka in Krasnodar on the way home! :bang:

By the way - forgot to say - good luck with your new life :)

good luck with civvy life
crikey you thought anny ganny fanny stan was hard
you wait til civvy street does its worst!

It's not such a bad life Rob ;)

At least you are not being shot at.

depends on what you want from life . security, safety, routine, boring, same people with their kitty stories blah blah blah etc, etc = office desk :lol:. Interesting life, amazing experience, healthy environment (outdoors, loads of sun, loads of exercise), doing what you really love - shooting guns, shooting with your camera, if you survive till you're 70 - stories to tell your grandchildren (so you're the cool guy, who've done stuff) , well yeah, somebody is shooting at you, no big deal, at least it builds character = army photographer .

have 3 guesses which one I would prefer for some time !:lol::lol:
this situation actually reminds me of the movie/book called "Beach"

Yeah I get it, being ex armed Police I know just what it's like :)

I'm now a part time office bitch, part time photographer because I doubt I could ever be a full time office bitch. The security from one is paying the bills while I get stuck into the other!

was police exciting ?

but you sure get the best of both worlds.

Only occasionally. :)

Got to save the life of a 4 year old which was pretty blooming amazing. Dealt with some utter s***s and got very very tired of shift work! I've been lucky to see a lot of things in my life that many never get the chance to do and I consider that I'm lucky to be alive and doing what I want to do. :)

You really must meet Mrs frac Alison...........

All the best in your new career !!

"I managed to squeeze through the crowds and unnoticed by the hordes of Iraq security Police, crawled across the floor of the polling station through everyone's legs in order to pop up behind the invigilator's table. Where I managed to get a shot of Current United States Vice President (then Senator) Joe Biden holding an inky finger aloft in triumph. I was the only Western photographer there and that image appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post".

Reading this made me wonder if the SAS hadn't asked you to stay on... I doubt many people could have got in there to get the "shot" !! (How much of a B******ing did you get though ?) :bat:

Well today's a Red-Letter Day:
I hand-in my issued camera equipment and won't be getting anything back in return.
My kit will be re-furbed and handed over to a sprog coming out of the factory in September.

So, Farewell my rugged and beautiful D3's - I knew you when you still had paint...
adieu my lovely, battered 24-70 and 80-200 - sorry about that midnight fall into the muddy ditch which broke your lens hoods...
das-vidaniya trusty SB900's - you have re-awakened my love for low light work and off-camera flash...
so long, sexy and alluring 14-24 - sorry I never actually used you...

:'(:'(:'(

From now on I use my own kit - like most of you I now have to buy my own again.

So its back to using the Chang-cheng whatjemacallit then?

I know we haven't always seen eye-to-eye during the short time I've been here, Rob, but good luck and all the best to you. Becoming a dad is a little scary and a big responsibility but it's also exciting, rewarding and wonderful. Your best years are yet to come. :)

Got a nice pat on the back from the Boss and a proper 'Hero-Gram' from the US Army Press Office.
Our SO3 who had declined to accompany me on the grounds that it was 'too risky' was forever after known as 'Scared Alex'...

Special Army Soldiers do lots of interesting things, most of which are way beyond me, I'm afraid.
I was priveliged to work with them for a short time though, so I do know what colour the boat house at 'Hear-fudd' is...lol

lol...I have two shiny, new-ish D3 bodies to play with and a D3x which may or may not get sold, depending on how much use it gets...(it's been relegated to my emergency, sell-it-now-to-pay-the-bills piece of kit).

A nice Chang-Chen would be good though...
