A lifetime of penury and debt, you mean? :(

They'll be hitting the terrible teens about the time I hit my early-to-mid-60's...what a friggin' joy that will be...:gag:

And there was me spending hours looking for any slightest mark on the filter i am selling you,,, Good luck in your new venture Rob.

Lol...as long as there's no deep gouges, I'm sure it'll be fine...
I'll also still be here at 6 tonight by the look of it...

Pets, you missed pets

We have red squirrels (Eichhörnchen - the hardest word in German for us to pronounce correctly, apparently) in the garden - maybe if I shoot a few and hang them on the fence...?

At least you still have the one you got so cheap it looked like it was stolen :suspect:

I take it you don't get to keep the pistol either... :D

just curious - how did you get the job in the first place ?

I've always had an interest in photography but career-wise:
Joined the infantry...got shot at and stoned/petrol-bombed for a few years...went to Reconnaissance Platoon, did surveillance work with cameras. Throughout that time I shot images for myself and did groups and portraits of the blokes I worked with and photographed what was going on around me.
Got head-hunted by the RLC Phot Branch in '98-99 during my last Northern Ireland Tour and moved across in '02.
Got lied-to, misled and generally messed around for the past eight years by the Photographic Branch hierachy and now I'm finally getting out.

 Rob loves that shot. Such a poser. 2 makeup artists, 3 hairstylists (extensive work), 2 photographers and 2 runners holding lights went in to that shot. :naughty:

The ink shot story is amazing too...

Lovely writeup :)

Good luck though

I bet ! :lol::lol::lol:

copied it from the army.mod.uk

"What is your most memorable assignment and why?

There have been many, but the one that I'm most proud of myself is one that most people wouldn't know about: during the Government Elections in Iraq we went to the town of al-Hillah to cover the balloting. Uniforms were not allowed anywhere near the polling stations so in order to get the 'money-shot' of fingers being dipped in ink-pots, we discussed the matter beforehand and decided to wear civilian clothes and sneak in, unarmed, under the radar, so to speak.

I managed to squeeze through the crowds and unnoticed by the hordes of Iraq security Police, crawled across the floor of the polling station through everyone's legs in order to pop up behind the invigilator's table. Where I managed to get a shot of Current United States Vice President (then Senator) Joe Biden holding an inky finger aloft in triumph. I was the only Western photographer there and that image appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post."

Rob did they make a typo on the menu for you:

CLP Rob Knight

Or have they invented a rank just for you?

Did think it was after i read about the polling station i remember you saying about that. Some great shots in the few they have shown.
