Naikon is like a Cainon only nicer :lol:

bokeh = bow-kay

Americans usually shorten the "o" till it virtually isn't there, make it a one syllable word instead of two.

bokeh = woof woof?

Bo-kay for me.

Is that bow as in bow and arrow or as in take a bow :shrug:

Theres no way you can make bokeh begin with a bow.....or a curtsey for that matter.
I added the "w" so it wouldn't sound like it was pronounced the same as hockey.

eny rooad raand, I think, thus us much variation in't accents us owt....cock sithey....

I tend to say Boka, but I believe the correct pronunciation is Bo (as in Beep) Keh (as in Que or Kevin)

hehe, ah well, I always pronounced it Bo-ker!

But I do say Barth instead of Bath, and don't have a bread roll with my chips, so what do I know....:lol:

Me too

probably still will ***:bonk:

POTN had a massive discussion about this, complete with someone's Japanese wife adding to the discussion... if you are interested to see other thoughts on the matter the thread can be found here - my favourite post in that thread gave the answer "Background Blur" :D

Well, I finally made into this discussion about my sign-on name. I would have to agree with CT, I have always heard it as Boka.

From the Wiki post above..

Origin
Mike Johnston, former editor of Photo Techniques magazine, claims to have coined the bokeh spelling to suggest the correct pronunciation to English speakers,[2] replacing the previous spelling boke that derived directly from the Japanese word for "fuzzy" and had been in use at least since 1996. It can be pronounced (boke-aay[3] or boke-uh).

Everyone is right! Love it. :D

bok-a

like the beginning to bokken.. and then a for eh.. obviously :D
