Sawman's 52 Quality

 That is a fantastic take on quad. I love each image individually and I really love the story that they tell about the life of the tree.

1 to 3 are simply beautiful shots.
:bonk: Another one here who had no idea that Larch trees flowered and very pretty flowers they are too, but my favourite has to be the shot of the cones. I love everything about it. The tones are just gorgeous, it’s perfectly sharp and the background blur & colour sets it off perfectly.

And No.4 ? Well you’re just showing off now aren’t you? ;)
Brilliant workmanship again – although I’d love to see a shot of that restored water wheel that you contributed to.

Thank you. Glad you like my effort for Quad.
You know, I think after all these years I am turning into a bit of a tree hugger!:D

I have never seen the water wheel either! It is only about 50 miles away so maybe this summer I will make the effort to go over the hill to Finzean.

Really clever idea with some good shots - well done!

Phil

Well done Charlie, a lovely quad set there, and a great little story running through them.

I also like produce the colours work really well and very nicely composed.

Thank you for your kind comments.

OOOh looked at this and forgot to comment!!

The first two are wonderful shots.. as is the workmanship in the last.

And a very clever use of the word quad.

Hey I used to go every where with a pony and trap so there's even less hope for me...but you never know :)

Well you bring the pony & trap & we can ride off into the sunset together.;)

I love the quad- showing the full cycle of the larch. They are one of my favourite trees and I collect the cones from a woods near our church. Last week I got a photo of one of the flowers. I hadnt seen them before.

Glad you got a shot of the flowers. Bonnie wee things I think.

My take on shoot!

Love the shot of the Larch flower Charlie, it is different.........

No! Just started to thin 16 acres of woodland to improve the habitat for my Red Squirrels. Gives me something to do.

That should keep you busy for a while, then, Charlie.

Shoot: Lights, camera, action! Wow - it looks like a film set. :)

Colour, lots to look at and perfect timing on the actual shot. It certainly fits the theme, but what I really, really love is the expression on the little boy's face, in the background. It looks as though he's got his hands over his ears - and I don't blame him.

Where was it taken?

Jean

Now I do like that series of shots for 'quad'! Really must get my brain thinking more about the actual theme!

As Jean says, great timing on the Canon shot. It's a cluttered image and the legs are a little distracting, but nicely on theme. :)

Shoot, so "bang" on theme it probably hurt your ears ... (sorry ;))... superb timing Charlie. Perhaps a little cluttered in the background, but I'm not sure what you could do about it with the angles that appear available, and some of the people around are contextual and in costume too. I like it.

So lets get this straight Charlie
you shot a Cannon with a Nikon  :D

Great timing

Great timing, great situation...I like the effect of the people in costume and perfect timing for the cannon...well done

You always seem to find the most interesting things to shoot!!!!

Brilliant timing and I love the bit of flame shooting out the end.

As others have said, the background is a touch distracting with the legs. It would have been nice if you could have got a bit more height in there to get the full bodies and heads in . . . that's not stopping me wanting to keep going back and looking at it though.

I was wandering along the harbour at Anstruther & just came on these folk about to fire the gun. The fuse was lit so I had no time to get a better position.
Thinking about it now it might have worked better if I had kneeled down to allow folks faces to be in the shot.
Went out yesterday to take something for "Single" Failed!

My take on "Single". This has proven to be a bit tricky for me, finding the right subject.
I had hoped to take something today but we have rain / sleet today.
In desperation I shot this through the car windscreen earlier this morning.

I may well revisit "Single"!

A single tree beside a single track road on a singularly soaking day.

Dunno why, but I love that! What an interesting take on a single tree, mate. Shame about the crappy sky, but you probably wouldn't have the ran without it. I love the bleakness of it.

Thank you kind sir!

A single tree fits the theme well and you have certianly shown a unique representation of it. I really like the abstractness of it, well spotted and captured.

Fits the theme well .. don't blame u for not getting out the car inn that weather to take the single tree. I like the rain affect and prefer the colour version.

I'm with Dean on this one.
No idea why, but I really like it.

It might have been shot in desperation but it's worked far, far better than a shot through a rainy windscreen has any right to work.

I don't suppose you want to send a bit of rain our way?
The garden's desperate for it right now.

What a clever idea - it works really well. I particularly like the sepia version.:clap:

Thank you all for your comments & thoughts on my watery tree!
I agree the colour version is the better of the two.
Reason I put on the second one is that I have been thinking! Never a good idea.
Some years ago I used to enjoy taking themed model shots. I would find a model ( last one sold me a pair of shoes) & then we would set about creating a look from the past. That particular girl looked good in a 40,s costume.
I was thinking maybe with the road /tree etc done in sepia & maybe a couple in Victorian costume walking down that road. Might work?

I actually prefer the composition of the second here. There's a little more definition in everything as well which might have blown the first away had it been in colour too. Well seen and taken though

I'm gonna say I prefer the second, the treatment works better for me. An unusual take on the theme, nice one Charlie.

Another thread I have missed. Apologies for that. Have added you to my list now!

I must say I prefer the second shot of the tree too. The branches at the top seem more defined somehow and the rain drops slightly less distracting.

First of the tree shots for me.

Works really well shot through the rainy window. It shouldn't but it does so well spotted.

Andy

Thank you all for your thoughts & comments on the tree shots. I struggled with that theme!

Stare for me,had to be an opportunity to highlight one of my wee red pals!
This is Wullie, but then they all get called Wullie!

Excellent, cuter than a cute thing.

Thank you.
For those that know me, it will come as no surprise that I used a red for this theme.
Working hard to protect & help them to flourish in this area.
