Of those listed, I only have experience of the first....it's my favourite lens. Sharpness, colour rendition etc are all just wonderful, and I smile every time I use it. Bag wise, I have a Crumpler December Quarter, which is big enough for two bodies, plenty of lenses and a 15.4" laptop

I am on the look out for a new lens........

1st a new body and the longer lens to follow shortly
I told you it would happen didn't I? :D

Can't really comment on the lens you have picked out as the closest I have is the 70-200 f/2.8 IS
I wouldn't be without it

Chris, i am after a Canon EOS 1D Mk III now

Going to get the lenses first as i prosume they can be used with the 400D and the 1D MkIII?? Is that right?

Tony

EDIT: Yep just looked, they can

I am on the look out for a new lens

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Lens

Sigma 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO DG (Canon AF)

Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 RF DG OS (Canon AF)

Does anyone have any views on them?

And what is the best camera bag/rucksack/hardcase?? I am thinking of getting a bigger one when i get more gear

What lens you need /want depends on what you want it to do for you - the canon lens is the one i would go for IF 200mm is long enough - the reason being build quality and speed of focus and the fact that it will work with all canon cameras current and future. the sigma lenses may suffer in low light and will focus slower (due to the lower f number) and may not work with future cameras.

When looking for a 500mm lens for myself, I looked at the 150-500mm and reviews said that it tends to be a little soft. Apparently a much superior alternative is the 50-500mm. I am still researching but this is just what I have read. Somebody may have a different view if they have used it themselves though.

Thanks for the replies

I am liking the Canon EF 70-200mm more now as it goes, Might save up for that then go from there
