Hi all...

Can someone tell me the best way to save portfolio shots for presentation on website. Obviously I want them to show as best as they can but also need to keep the file size down.

Any help appreciated

Hi Dave

I have both LR4 and CS6.

I realise LR has a preset for saving to web just wondered if this is my "best" option. Running a file through that results in a file of around 250kb ?

Cheers

Photoshop should give you a preview of the resulting image and file size for the various compression levels - I would pick the smallest file size that doesn't show visible compression artefacts. Imo 250k is too big, esp if there is more than one image on the page.

Using the 'Save for Web and Devices' is likely your best bet, selecting the '2 Up' tab at the top of it is useful for a direct comparision between existing image and compressed version.

Just take the quality of the jpg down as low as you can/want before you start to notice the compression and loose quality.
