Saving as Jpeg

I always shoot raw, sort them a little in DPP and then i do the rest in PSE8 and then at the end "save as" and save as Jpeg.
Installed the new PSE10 and tried to do exactly the same but there is no option to "save as " Jpeg or am i missing something, plenty of options to save as photoshop etc etc or as a tiff but not jpeg.

You need to change the mode from 16 bit to 8 bit as you cannot save 16 bit in jpeg.

Go to Image > Mode and change it to 8 bit.

i prefer to use the 'process multiple files..' option. Then that way you can tailor the options to suit the images i.e. resize, image quality, rename files, location of folder to save in etc..

If you were to photograph a perfectly smooth graduated image, black on the left increasing to white on the right, neither would give a seamless image when reproduced. The 8 bit JPG would instead give a 'staircase' of 2^8 or 256 discrete levels, the 16 bit version would have 2^16 or 65,536 levels.
