Hi everyone

Now I dont know about you but Id like to know if any of you guys have the same problem as I do and a couple of other friends I have. When I save for web etc..... copy of image - image size - 600 x 300 at 72dpi then save it to sRGB then sharpen etc..... this is how I do it. I find that compared to my Originals they are alot less vibrant , as if a sponge has sucked some of the life out of the shot. Wonder if anyone else has this problem and has solved it ? Any tips or your way of saving would be good to try. I do use Photium as website host. So it might be them ? who knows be interesting in finding out what you lot out there has to say.

I never save to web, always just do all post processing on large image (levels, noise reduction, unsharp mask etc), save that as copy, then resize image to 800x600, (might redo unsharp mask at reduced levels), then save image at 11 or 12 on slider for image quality, sometime depending on where I store the image, have a limit of 300k, but it depends where you bulk store your images and what limitations the site has. I use photobucket, signed upto a pro account, $25 a year and can store several mgb images if I want, but usually 300 - 600k images.

The save to web significantly reduces the quality, especially if your having to save to say 100k

Funnily enough I was playing with some photos earlier on and was thinking the same thing I think it depends on each image content as some seemed to suffer more than others

Its Bloody annoying it is, especially when its not true to the original colours. Surely others have the same problem and has solved it!???

This is pretty much what I do anyway! Im just talking about colour! The loss of it, the smaller version still looks same as my original except when i put it on the internet or website.

This comes up quite often.

When you view the image in Photoshop it's reading the icc profile attached to your monitor and adjusting the colours used to the display the image.

When you view the image in Internet Explorer or most other applications the display colours aren't adjusted according to the profile so you get a different result.

Unless your display has been calibrated then the chances are both results are actually wrong but in different ways.

Switching to a browser that will read the profile such as Firefox or Safari will give you more consistent results but only calibration will mean they are the right ones.

Oh right, Well I do use safari and firefox and my monitor is calibrated and also my mate who has same set up as me and also uses photium has the same problem. so still unsure.

Can you post an example or link to an image that looks different in photoshop to safari?

well not really cos they still look different to my original! and thats on my desktop! so wont make any difference unless your in the same room as I am looking at my original and the image on the web.

The point is to see what profile the image is tagged with. An image tagged with a sRGB should look the same in Photoshop as it does in Safari for example. If that's not happening then it could be a problem with your colour settings in photoshop.
