Hiya all, im having a few problems with cs2 at the moment, using the same method I have used for years to resize for uploading to the web my files are still over 1mb at 750pxs wide. So I tried save for web. This turned the nice marlboro red colour into this awful pink colour, anybody know why?

what colour profile do you shoot in Gary? Adobe RGB will have issues under the parochial 'save for web' sRGB conversion. Try converting profile first and then save for web......

I thought SFW automatically applied the sRGB colour profile (or at least has an option to select the embedded colour profile when saving).

Maybe you have a rogue setting there?

It does Marcel, but lumps the entire process together and can be hit and and miss - I've had the same issue with bright reds and deep blues before. A two step process seems to be fine - just one of those CS2
idiosyncrasies

Almost every image i've posted on here this year was done through save for web and they've all looked flat with incorrect colour tones.
It's normally greens that go wrong for me, with reds going flat.

The other question is why are the normal photos taking up 1MB? Mine come out at between 150-350KB saved at a compression ratio of 10. Maybe you are saving photos at 12, try lowering the compression to a lower number and see if that helps. :)

This is the 1st time ive experienced this problem, even saving at jpg level 0 they are still above 1mb!!!!!

Hmm ok. The photos still open fine and all that? Maybe there is a setting somewhere that you changed without realising. I hope you don't think i'm trying to tell you to suck eggs, just running over things that maybe you didn't think of and running them through my mind.:)

The other option that may work is to un then re-install CS2. That may work.

No problem, I didn't think that at all. sometimes text can be misinterpreted, sorry if I gave that feeling, thanks for the advice, I think I am going to have to re install ps. I can't seem to see any logical reason as to why im having this problem, the even crazier thing is...... The images taken on the 1D mk2 im having problems with but the images from the D60.... no problem,:cuckoo: now I know there is a quality difference but not by that much. BTW cheers all for your advice.:D

Thats ok, your posts didn't make you sound like that, I just put that in cos I don't like not being liked. :D

Hopefully a reinstall will sort the problem, very strange though. :s

When you SFW which colour profile in the SFW box are you using?
When I SFW, I make sure I have the "2-Up" tab selected as that way you can see the effect SFW will have on your original file, the small arrow just to the left of the "save" button contains four options for colour profiles (apologies if you already know all about this & I am just going over stuff you've already tried) I find that the "Uncompensated colour" option tends to alter reds to more of a pink tone, "Standard Windows" darkens my images "Standard Mac" lightens & "Use document colour profile" (which I use) tends to pretty much replicate my original.
Everyone will have different workarounds for colour & SFW but thats just the way that I use & it seems ok for me

Cheers for that, I have never used sfw before as I have never had too so this is all new to me, I will give that a go and see what I can do, cheers

Hi,
I had exactly the same colour problems when saving for the web recently, ( it has been ok in the past), I have tried everything, including re installing cs2, with no difference.
I think I have found the problem, it is when I convert the raw image using lightroom. In the past I converted to tiff, using the adobe rgb setting, but a couple of weeks ago I decided to try prophoto rgb, with hindsight, this is when the problem started, I changed back to adobe rgb today, the colours seem fine in the couple of images I tried with save for web.
I don't know if you use the same software, but it may be a similar problem.

Alwyn

Instead of prophoto RGB have a go at using sRGB instead, web browsers don't support the full range of colours of adobeRGB. :)

Ok, set colour space to adobe rgb and CS seems to have reset itself as a new install (even though I havnt) and all seems to be fine again.

This thread confuses me. People are saving files as AdobeRGB and they are working okay on the web?

Michael.
