Sausage Roll or Pork Pie?

But then, throw a scotch egg into the mix.............

If it's one of the plastic supermarket ones it'll probably bounce!
But if you're talking homemade scotch eggs, freshly cooked and served still warm with the yolk just barely set . . . drool !!!

Failing that I'll take the pork pie - but only if it's a Melton Mowbray.

Hot sausage roll - cold pork pie.
Each has its merits.
I personally find the pastry on a pork pie nowadays (along with dodgy jelly) to be of a lower standard (too thick and doughy) than back in the day.
I made sausage rolls a few months ago, and whilst they looked terrible, the taste was out of this World.

Anhk Morpork green 'meat' pie.

Gregg's warm sausage roll (x2) or 2 warm pork pies with mushies and salt & vinegar hhhmmmm lush.

I have never had a supermarket pork pie that was worth recalling

However a real hand raised pork pie using hot water pastry, lard and pork stock jelly, is a feast in itself.

Pork pie every time ….. Someone pass the brown sauce ….

used to be a bakery in Haslingdon that made the best pork pies ever (that ive experienced anyway). That was 20 years ago and i've yet to come across any to date to beat it. Smashes a sausage roll into next week.

Neither

Then recently was seeved a sausage roll branded as HP Sauce?? It was a sausage roll which included HP sauce inside

I am hooked dammit.....

Where do you get them from?

Steve

Pork pie, not to mention it's very low carb so clearly the healthy option of the two, a hot sausage roll is welcome from time to time but really there's no comparison (unlike the eternal pie vs pasty debate)

Definitely seen them in asda and sainsbury. Think there are a few other varieties too.... Heinz ketchup and Branston methinks!

Cheers

Will have a look. Not normally my sort of tbing but tasty alternative. Only the HP one is of interest.

Branstin?.... Maybe!
