Daily Sarah's 365 31st December 2013 - The End! (CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE ACTUALLY FINISHED!!)

Hi Sarah. The robin is fantastic.. Beautiful pose and eye contact.. The trees on a hill with a sky FULL of great clouds..love it..

The bridge though... Seems to be lost. Definitely the shadowy side. Did you get it from the other side? I'm just straining to appreciate the detail of the stone work.

Robin

Did this come into the garden in the winter when we had snow so I could get a Christmas card shot, no, contrary little b****r that is is, he only comes to the garden in the summer.

Photoshop to the rescue! No but seriously, great pose and light. Well caught.

I like both ;)

Sorry to hear about the leg Sarah - hope things improve :)

Lovely shot - about time we had some mono

Jim

Thanks Jim, don't do mono very much as I'm never quite happy with the tones I get, but this didn't work as well in colour.

Hopefully will get diagnosis on the leg & can then get it sorted. Think it's compartment syndrome, but we will see.

you're getting your money's worth out of that little bottle Sarah - lovely shot - great composition :)

Having a catch up after a very busy weekend :)

Loving the sunlight on the bridge.

Trees and sky is beautiful - did you take a shot of these in the winter too?

As for the pesky wildlife - I usually find them all posing away when I don't have a camera in my hand - when I do have one...

Not sure about the fallen tree at all - I think it is too straight on and would be more "texturous" taken at an angle - huge congratulations to Simon - I would be thrilled :D

Todays flowers are gorgeous - lovely composition

That is a fantastic capture Sarah! I hope your leg is ok! :)

Thanks Jake, fingers crossed for this afternoon. Might get a diagnosis today or may have to go back and go on a treadmill with a catheter in the muscle to test the pressure!! Good job needles don't bother me :)

Thanks Jim, think Brian might be right in that it's a little tight on the top.

Thanks Sarah, we are really thrilled for him, he has worked incredibly hard, he had a blip with his A levels & didn't get his first choice uni, but the one he got had a bursary scheme, which he applied for & got sponsorship for the 3 years, so no debt, then applied for a masters at the uni he originally wanted to go to and got it & now the PhD in the same lab :)
The fallen tree is a tricky one as you can only get at it from a little bridge, so hard to get the angle, plus I was standing on one leg at the time, resting the dodgy one :)

That's lovely. It feels a little bit tight to me - top & bottom?

Yes, Brian I do agree the top is a little tight on this one, Andy wants me to re shoot a close up of just one flower as well today to get more detail.

I normally carp on about tight composition and I looked at this one and felt it still worked as it is due to the main stem dropping down and pulling attention away from the top - a little space wouldn't do any harm of course :)

Sunset across the Valley

Shot looking across the valley from the village of Harrington in Northampton, just behind is a bank of wild garlick, that although it's not in flower yet, stinks to high heaven.
Whizzed out quickly tonight as just got back from hospital visit & dinner with son. Finally have diagnosis of compartment syndrome in legs, so quick op this year & should be sorted.

Cottesbrook Hall

Off work this week & Andy & I had a lovely afternoon at Cottesbrook Hall, if you are in Northamptonshire & have not been, I'd highly recommend it, only open 1-2 days a week, afternoons only as still a private home, but fantastic collection of sporting paintings in the house and the gardens must be some of the best locally, like a series of rooms all with a different character and the wilderness garden that runs along the river is beautiful.

I like the higgledy piggledy path, but as Jim said it looks like it could do with a bit of a contrast adjustment...?

I have bookmarked their website for a day out later in the summer, thanks for the tip.
