Daily Sarah's 365 31st December 2013 - The End! (CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE ACTUALLY FINISHED!!)

Friend bringing a 3 week old baby round this afternoon & as she is into photography as well, the poor baby is going to be photographed by both of us :)

Ooooh lucky you - I'd love a go at a newborn

I think it's almost there. The fact the hair is cropped bugs me, and I'm not sure about the OOF hand! Have you tried to do anything about the dry skin?

Hair edge is cropped to remove edge of basket & the hand is OOF as I wanted a shallow DOF, which would also help the dry skin, I have done some work on the skin in the RAW and processed files, but didn't want to go to far so that it looks like a cartoon.

This is another from the shoot, the basket is a bit battered & wonky :)

Aww that's another lovely one how lucky were you that she was so fast asleep

That photo is gorgeous sarah! It really is wonderful, whats the technique?

Thanks Jake, in quick terms, soft processing of the RAW file, using -20 on the clarity slider, cropped in CS5, then in NIK I used a glow filter & then finally converted to mono, just fiddling around to get the tones right for the skin. This was my favourite, her Mum loves the flower.

Thanks Sarah, it took a couple of feeds :)

+1 - perhaps it's just that the flower is so large.... much prefer the mono above :)

Thanks Jim, I posted the shot the mum liked best as the photo of the day though :)

Thanks Jake, I'm glad I discovered this avenue. It's only 15 minutes from home, so I left home at 8 this morning, got the shot and was still at work by 8:45am! I was hoping for mist and sun, as it was really thick mist as I left home, but this village was in bright sunshine! Hey Ho, always another day for that :)

Lovely :) Looks like a proper English Spring Morning - light is lovely too :)

Thank's Sarah it certainly was. They knew what they were doing when they planted it as well, the sun rises on one side and sets on the other, so you get great shadows & the light is nicely dappled. Very good of them to think of photographers in the future:)

Into the light - love the hint of outside peeking....

Camellia - such pure white.....

Isobel - looks like she is practicing her left jab in here sleep :) - great capture - not sure about the flower...

Green - great light - works as a more 16:9 crop too :) by removing the most dominant branch coming in from the right.

That will look great in all seasons, just like the comment you left on my photo! I'd like to see it with mist, would look awesome! I know what you mean about the snow driving, although in the snow I have to drive, as my mums BMW is rear wheel drive and spins out, but the Audi is front wheel drive and doesn't as much - The joys of a British winter!

My Ford focus estate is front wheel drive, but spins out much more easily that the old Volvo I used to have. Andy has a Subaru Impreza and that sticks to the road like glue and is 4 wheel drive, so might be best, but not at speed :)

Yeah I can imagine that sticks well! I'm a scooby fan myself!

Yep, the b&w baby picture is a winner!

I really like the "Green" picture though. Plenty of detail, very vibrant and great compo!

nice - I especially like the reflected sunlight on the underside of the arch :)

3rd May 2013

Three trees on a hill with the sky.

Title is the description as well :) Very late uploading today as busy celebrating with our son. He found out today that he's been accepted to study for a PhD in the lab he's working on his masters in. It means he's sorted and funded for the next 4 years!
