LOL Jim.

It has shuffled off its mortal coil and joined the choir invisible. Its metabolic processes are history. It is demised. It is an ex starling :)

Thanks Toni, happy with the light & composition, just don't pixel peep as it's very noisy.

Noisy images don't bother me too much. I'd prefer to have it noisy than not have it at all

Liking todays!

There is definately great colours in that Sarah, nicely done.

What's your poison

Bit of a meh, shot today, really want to get out with the camera to do some local scenes, but the weather is rotten, dull grey cloud & dull flat light. So picked out another of my junk shop bottles to shoot today & am thinking I need a different base, so on the look out for something now. Anyway, carnations in an old poison bottle.

Nice enough idea - especially considering Carnations are supposed to be mildly poisonous - and captured well - my feeling is that a darker background would maybe work better :)

Great shots Sarah ..... Absolutely love the shoes :D , the park scene is lovely, that poor bird :( .... but great colours and detail and love the carnations :)

I really like this Sarah, well done! I love the tones, the bottle and background but it feels to me like its leaning towards me and I cant work out why! Maybe I'm just tired....

Another great set of photos over the last few days!

Mortuary Chapels is really nicely composed and the detail is great on there; you had a great day for Upper Dean Windmill and another lovely composition; Those shoes? My sister would KILL for those! I will never show her that photo!; I love the frosty morning - that light coming through and the nice crisp feel it conveys; I love your comment about your still life...'ooh, I have flowers or a dead bird, which will I use  Yup, definitely the dead bird'! :D They do have amazing colours though, don't they, and you have captured them very well! :)

Carnations are beautiful... your flowers are always so pretty and sharp!

Lovely, don't listen to the bloater - this background with the texture is perfect

Wonderful work Sarah  I love frosty morning I think that it's great, and the last one what's your poison is inspired  thought you should also maybe let the flowers die and then do another photo of them

I really like the idea the flowers are growing in poison  chuck a bit of green food colouring in there and you'd be on to a real winner (although the flowers may not appreciate it)!

Lovely carnations with a different concept with the poison bottle.

I shot it from above as didn't want the stems in shot and yes, it does look as if it's leaning forward. I can adjust the perspective in PS to correct that :) Thanks for the input.

Thanks Sam, my friends did say that they worried about me choosing the bird over the flowers.

I really love it! I love that bottle!

Thanks Toni, found a little antique shop in Uppingham that has some great little bargains in.

Carnations are beautiful... your flowers are always so pretty and sharp!

Thanks Trace.

Just you wait Blondie :p

LOL you two.

I do like that bottle! The flowers are nice too;)

Thanks Phil.

That's a really nice shot Sarah...colours great and works well against the light background.

Thank you.

Nice idea Matt, I might have a go at drying some flowers for a shot. I managed to dry some tulips last year, they looked amazing.

I really like the idea the flowers are growing in poison  chuck a bit of green food colouring in there and you'd be on to a real winner (although the flowers may not appreciate it)!

Thanks Tim, might work with some white flowers as they will take up the colour.

Lovely carnations with a different concept with the poison bottle.

Thanks Lynn.

Folly

Folly in Spectacle Lane near Moulton in Northamptonshire.
These lie in Boughton Park and are called the Spectacles, hence Spectacle Lane. There are apparently some more follies around, but I'm not sure where, so will have to find them. Just across the road is a house built in the style of this folly by the Jeyes (of Jeyes fluid fame) family.
Might have slightly over processed this, but wanted to try and bring out a bit of extra detail in the horrible dull sky.

Wow Sarah that looks amazing!... really like that

Yep another thumbs-up from me - take a chainsaw or a branch lopper with you next time ;)

That's gorgeous Sarah. The colour of the bricks against the sky is beautiful.
