Daily Sarah's 365 31st December 2013 - The End! (CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE ACTUALLY FINISHED!!)

Hey Sarah - only just realised I've not been getting any 'alerts' for you guys 365 challenges I've been following - got to love the new forum aye..

Anyway just caught up with your latest shot - all excellent as always - think my recent fav has to be 'dead tree' - love the processing on this one and the whole mood works really well

Thanks both. David, it's actually been quite good fun & I've had my hubby & son to keep me going as well :) In fact my son has now decided to do one next year.
I do have to admit though that some days are harder than others, like yesterday, when I was at work in the morning, then out all afternoon & it was dark when I got home, so it was a quick shot.

The water comes out by the side of the building and there is an island in the middle of the pond & a river coming in one side and out of the other, so the water swirls there. I could see the bubbles swirling, so used the 9 stop filter so slow the water the make it stand out a bit more.

It works really well. The only thing it's missing is a Pirate Ship being dragged to the centre. You may or may not want to photoshop one in ;P

Sky was lovely to a point, above this it was just a pale uninteresting blue, so no interest in it, hence only a 3rd of the shot is sky. I'm a bit of a picker with my images really, never quite happy, always pushing to try harder to get what I want, but this is, better than the last shot I took in this location. So improving :)

Love the watermill shot. But what the bobbins were you doing up early on a Sunday morning :(

Foot is recovering nicely - not taking the strong painkillers anymore and will probably take the bandage off tonight and just put a foot support on as I can't get my foot in a single pair of shoes!!!!

I get the insomnia thing too :( The strong pain killers were pretty good for it mind you ;)

Blue

Not dodgy photoshop work, but a flower from some lilys I got in Tesco that had been dyed blue. They were just buds when I got them, but they were such a vivid shade of blue that I had to buy a bunch just to see what they looked like when open. They didn't disappoint, very different.
Also, exciting news, I've been chosen to go on one of the Amateur Photography Magazines masterclass days. This one will be in London & is a Still Life day. Very excited.

I could tell you but I'd have to kill you :)
Sorry :) Anyhow, this is very simple. I had a friend round all afternoon & by the time she'd gone, it was dark, so this is just sitting on a large piece of paper on my dining table, just lit by the overhead light. To get the exposure bright enough, it is at ISO100 (to keep grain to a minimum), f8, with a shutter speed of 30 seconds, so tripod required. The RAW file is then processed to get the correct lighting temperature & then sharpened and the curves adjusted in photoshop. So nothing special about this one.
No macro lens used on this one, just the 24-105mm.
