Daily Sarah's 365 31st December 2013 - The End! (CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE ACTUALLY FINISHED!!)

That looks like a really interesting building, I suspect if I could get in there I could have a lot of fun :naughty: Nice work on the children AA a very worthy cause  I love the tulip  the standard and variety of your work is brilliant  keep up the great work

That is interesting! Look forward to more photos when you go back there Sarah

Great photo - sneeky-peek of things to come! Looking forward to what you get when you go in there! :)

Thanks Sam, will probably go when my son is home for a weekend.

Hey Sarah, quick catch up again...

2nd April - that made me howl laughing :D, great shot.

3rd April - amazing set of shots, nice work

4th April - really nice shot, works well

5th April - definitely worth a re-visit and a good old nosey around :D

Thanks Simon.

Particularly like the last of your helicopter shots Sarah.
Your flower shot is as immaculate as always and love the look of that old building, there is bound to be some great potential for shots there.

Thanks Phil, looking forward to exploring that area, it's only about 10 mins away.

I think derelict would be a nice location for some wire wool  great shot.

Jake, wouldn't want to do that in there, too dry & too much wood about, it burnt down & such an amazing building, there is a danger of doing more damage.

Thank you Matt, I've seen photo's from inside & will try at some point to get in, the parkland around is still nice as well. As I said, not suitable for wire wool due to the old dry wood in there.

That is interesting! Look forward to more photos when you go back there Sarah

Thanks Trace.

Lovely one, Sarah - those shadows are great! And the long branches are amazing. :)

cracking light/shade - great perspective :)

Wow, that's gorgeous Sarah!

Thanks all, this is the same place as yesterday, I decided to go back today for another look & just 15 minutes up the road, how did I not know this was this close and easy to get too! I think these trees might feature in every season this year :)

Thats quite nice Sarah. I too like the perspective. As you say, there is a shot here in every season.

7th April 2013

Roubaix Cobbles (sort of)

Well actually, not really Roubaix cobbles at all, these are very small in comparison, but in honour of it being Paris-Roubaix day, these are about the last set of cobbles in Wellingborough.
For those of you that don't know what Paris-Roubaix is, it's one of the most exciting bike races of the year and information can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_roubaix

Thanks Jim, I like them as well, they have just left a little square of them in a side street and another little square up the road and they are the only cobbles left in the town now. I just thought as Paris-Roubaix was on today, a shot of them fitted into my day nicely. Although I wish I was at the race as it is amazing to watch.

I love the really diverse, but muted, colours you get in cobbles like this and you have captured it very well! :)

Love the row of trees - and totally agree that they would be good to revisit every season - I do miss big deciduous trees - we're quite evergreen here :(

Great texture and colours innthe cobbles Sarah.
I have watched paris-roubaix over the years, it is definitely a tough tough race. I did a bit of road racing many years ago and still have a couple of bikes that get an odd run out.

I like that Sarah! I love the old cobbled streets here.

Thanks Toni, I do as as well, the council here have kept this bit, they tarmac round it, but just leave this bit. Most odd, but I'm glad they do.

Thanks Sarah, I can imagine you do, we went to see some friends who lived in Tenerife a few years ago and Andy said I don't like the lack of proper trees :) Looks like you were close to where I live when you visited here in the uk.

Thanks Phil, one of my favourite races, we went out to watch it a few years ago on a coach trip, it was brilliant, we got to all the main cobble stages & Andy & I even managed to scramble through the hedge at the back of the velodrome to watch the finish. Andy used to do time trials but stopped a couple of years ago, he still rides though.

Very nice Sarah, how do you get the background looking so seemless and so white?

Thanks Both.

Phil, lucky enough to have a conservatory, so can get all round light. All this is is a large sheet of paper, taped into an infinity curve in a cheap light tent. Then I take the shot to make the background as white as I can and then use levels/curves to even it out in the processing stage. I usually run these through the detail extractor in NIK effex, which then tends to darken the background! Which is a pain in the arse, so then I have to erase the background from the NIK layer to leave the detail in the subject, but take it back to the white background from the processed RAW layer.
Hope that makes sense, but if not let me know. I'm not good with lights & lighting, so stick to natural light if working alone.

Oh, really lovely, these are so pretty with their dried out leaves and egg yolk coloured fruits.

Thanks I've always liked them for that as well.

Nice photo - not what I was expecting but it's late and I've just concentrated on playing bridge for 3 hours ;) well that's my excuse and I did think it unlikely you had taken a photo of an STD !

LOL, someone else said that on facebook as well, something about it being a Syphalis fruit! eeewww.

I really need to get back on track with keeping upto date and posting lol...

love the composition of the tree line.. stunning

cobble streets are always a winner with me

my fav has to be the fruits still life... stunning detail as always sarah.. lovely!

 They are quite beautiful and a lovely and unusual way of displaying them.

Not too sure about the stalk on the centre one though

Much much better - tbh I didn't notice the one on the right so much as it was so obviously a leaf - but the stumpy bit was not quite right ;)

It's strange how so often you don't see something that is right under your nose
