weekly *Sarah* 2012 52 week challenge. Yippee I made it!!

Hi Sarah

Sorry I've been a bit distracted too and not been on TP much!

Friendship, I prefer your first version  The slight tint to the BG and the writing give it a less clinical look which I think suits it!

Change, well done for getting it posted while you've been ill! I prefer the close up, it's lovely a sharp and the colour and slight decay in the leaf all add to the theme

I hope you're feeling better and it's not a start of the sickly season already that we both suffered with last winter!!

Thanks Marsha, the joy of working in a school is that you sometimes get to bring bugs home with you! I'm almost over it thank goodness as I am having an operation on Thursday and they might not be able to do it if I still have the lurgy! Lets hope we both have a healthier winter from last year!!

I'm really liking the SOOC version but have to say the closer crop and the pop you've given the the colour of the leaf makes it jump out as a winner. Nice one.

Thanks Peter, I'm still not convinced it was worth wading through the river with water not far from the top of my wellies though!!:)

Hi, Sarah, Change...like it. Really like the vibrant yellow, but most of all i like how the leaf is wrapped around the rock.

Not sure which side of the fence you sit...move or not move, but I'd have moved the lower left rock :D

Did you use a polariser?

Cheer and hope you've recovered

SOOC is better in this case the leaf seems better to me

Thanks Andy, sometimes I do move things and had moved another smaller rock out of the way but it was a bit dodgy where I was standing and would prob had ended up head first in there if I'd tried getting any closer. No polariser used but I have one on my wish list and so has Peter!!

My cold is gradually going - I'm just hoping its gone enough for Thursday so I can still have my op!!:)

Hi Sarah

Change - really nice capture of the leaf and the water, partic the latter as it looks almost like smoke/mist.

Hard to compare the 2 because of the crop - the punchiness and colour of #2 is attractive, but #1 might look equally good if the crop was the same and therefore the detail could be compared more readily. But the SOOC is very good.

Best of luck for Thursday.

Hi Sarah :)

Really liked the SOOC of autumn leaf till I scrolled and see the edit, amazing the difference, the colours and shine in the edit are sublime !!!!!

Thank you Alan and Dean!!

Heres my natural shot - it's a rose in my garden and shot using natural lighting. The colours look a bit wierd but I've been to check and they are pretty close to the actual rose - I've not really looked close up at it before!

Another rush job this week but hopefully things will get easier soon!!

Lovely colour and I really like how the eye travels towards the centre of the flower as the petals get tighter together.

Oooooo, Natural, liking this one. Nice vibrant colours; nice and close; plenty of selective detail. Being picky my eye was drawn to the brighter upper right.

Looked again and the shapes of the petals in really appealing...

Cheers.

Lovely work Sarah. For a rush job as you have said, it certainly doesn't show. I like the soft colour tones, the composition draws the viewers eye in and through the frame. The lighting is perfect too. All round

Hi Sarah

hope you're making a speedy recovery from your op

Lovely image for the SOOC/Change week .....the SOOC one is pretty darn impressive but the edited version just pips it to the post... great colors , real shine & just a hint of smoky water..love it

Natural.....another one who wishes her "rushed" shots were half that good ! Beautiful color rose , only minor nit pick is the small dark mark near the tip of the rh lower petal...possibly clone it ?

lovely shot, makes me want to curl up inside it

Hi Sarah,

Beautiful rose shot, the detail on the petals is lovely. I'd have to agree with Andy about the bright bit top right! I'd possibly clone or crop that part!

Hope your op went ok and you're on the mend already.

Thank you all for your comments!:) I'll have a look at cropping the top right hand corner - I can see what you mean!

My op went well, I'm living on painkillers at the moment but that should ease over the next couple of days!:)

Thank you, when I'm off the painkillers I'll have a look at improving it!!:) This weeks could be interesting if my brain carries on like this - its taken 20 mins just to type this!!:lol::cuckoo:

This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this weeks theme! Peter took me out for a drive on Sunday so that he could get his shot, it was my first trip out since my op and was still suffering a little. Every time we have driven up Sutton Bank there are always several piles of logs so I kept my fingers crossed that they would be there yesterday.

I can't decide which to go for, colour or black & white. I've tried cropping to get rid of the black space at the top right but always end up with dead space somewhere or strange cut up logs. Not sure which (if any) What do you think?

have to say i really like the black and white version the detail stands out better nicely composed and bang on theme

Hi Sarah - glad that you are out and about.

All shots on theme (idea that came to me first too).

I have a had a good look and still cannot make up my mind.

If left as they are, I would go for #1 as the detail of the rings stands out better. But I would crop it just above and to include the '4th log up on the left' i.e the one with the kind of star shape in the rings. However if you did that to #2 too, then that would not be so busy and might compete with the b&w - but maybe not (see I still prevaricate)

Aaaagggghhh I hate you! I spent ages searching for tree stumps today to shoot the rings, only found one old tree caked in mud!

I prefer the B&W, definitely more detail. I agree with Alan about cropping it too.

Glad you're up & about and keeping up

I'm off to get my :coat: and find a new idea :bonk:
