weekly *Sarah* 2012 52 week challenge. Yippee I made it!!

#2 gets my vote Sarah. I particularly like how it really fills the frame and one can see the detail of the fruit.
Lovely strong vibrant colours, well lit and exposed too. Can't fault that at all. Great work. Iain

Thanks Iain, #2 is my favourite but I was interested to see what others thought as well.

Seeing that I've done this weeks theme I really should try and catch up on everyone elses threads! Though I have recently bought a phototrigger and am desperate to have a go at using that as well!!:)

I like 1 and 2 altho maybe the blackberry would have looked more random inside the ring of strawberries? I think it's right on theme which is good because my 'last resort' shot will be along those lines

Thanks summer, I did set up a shot with the blackberry in the middle but felt it looked a bit lost.:) It was an easy option this week but I really want to spend some time taking more shots not related to the theme!!

nice exposures to all of them no2 though i agree is the one almost edible.:)

Leave is fantastic; I like the B&W one best. Great interpretation of the theme. You've captured that anticipation that says "I'm leaving it, but how much longer?" perfectly :)

Will comment on Random once I've done mine :)

I just knew there was going to be a bag of sweeties in this week :D All shot very well Sarah. ;)

Thanks Mark, it was fun taking this one as Archie looks at my eyes for instruction and it confused him when I blocked his vision with the camera. I think Archie enjoyed eating the biscuits even more!!:lol:

I trust you dealt with the sweets appropriately Sarah once you finished photographing them? :D

The berries look nice and sharp, with great detail and colours.

My eye is drawn to the black berry in #1 as it seems to be leaning slightly....minor point but work mentioning. What lighting for these? I've asked you before...just got some macro tubes so need to start researching lighting :gag:

Randoms is a quirky photograph but you've added a 's'...isn't it Random....not that I'm being pedantic....;) I do want to reach out and put them in some kind of order, though...:cuckoo:

Cheers....

As photos I like the berry ones best, especially number 2 which is really lovely, but the sweets are more on theme.

I keep wishing the sweet packet wasn't so flat, but the sweets themselves are nicely in focus and well exposed.

Great work :)

Random - I like image number 2 best of all and think the close-crop works. Very nice focus and lighting and good choice of DoF throwing the back rows of focus allowing the eye to concentrate on the blackberry. looks mouth watering

like your shots Sarah, #2 for me, like the close up picture and the colours:)

I finaly shot mine tonight, and I have also done Randoms!!!, Still going to post mine but will try and get something else......Doh!!

Hi Sarah, many apologies but I'm a bit behind!

Leave: initially I liked the B&W of your dog but wondered what colour he was. Then you posted the original and I have to agree with Liz that the PP just doesn't suit him, his eyes are to gorgeous a colour to lose. Saying that, i like the shot and the idea for leave. As for masking around fur and hair, there is a way to fine tune it in CS5 I googled it once, but still got it wrong:bonk:

Randon: I like all three, but number two steals it with the close crop. The randoms are a very clever idea, they certainly fit the theme and are nicely exposed

Can I be REALLY picky and say in number one the white foreground has quite a lot of little bits on it, obviously from the fruit, it really is nit picky though but they've made it into the other two shots!

It was nice meeting you last week, I really will get my photos posted this weekend!

Hi Sarah

The portrait of your pooch in B&W is wonderful , great PP work from the original...lovely looking chap & very well trained

Random.....#1 image for me.....they look good enough to eat ,you've caught the textures & colors really well & I like the layout  Only slight niggle .....I'd maybe have cloned out all the little bits & the darker line in the lower half of the photo....other than that...great shot girlie , keep up the good work

Hi Sarah

Random - I'm liking all 3... no:2 is edging it as the best, I think it's the narrow dof that seals it for me, both fruit pics very inviting and more in my taste than the bang on them Randoms shot. All very good

Thanks for the comments Neil and DK!:)

1 more for the randoms I see, I like it. Out of the 3 pics, I am going to go with number 2, lovely and crisp and very nice colours.

Hi Sarah - Random - #1 is my favourite.
Excellent lighting and I like the POV.
Sorry I'm so far behind with my comments Mike

Thanks Michael and Mike, I'm also far behind on commenting - I will try to set aside one evening this week to catch up!!:)

Thanks Marsh and Lynne, don't let his looks deceive you:lol:, he's really the Tazmanian devil!!:lol:

I agree about the messy background on these ones, I was sadly lacking enthusiasm this week and it shows a little in the editing!:)

Here goes, another week has flown by!

Here's my entry for this weeks theme! I have another idea and will have a go at this if I have time later this week. I was cooking the Sunday roast when this idea came to me!:)

temperature by *sarah*., on Flickr

I will try and catch up on all your threads this week!:)

I'm with Iain there; I can't decide either!!! A bit of sizzle in the background would have been nice, but it's a great shot as it is. Tiny bit burned out at 10 o'clock on the dial rim, but I don't think that detracts really.

Very very nice indeed :)

What were you cooking though, because at that temperature, you've frazzled it!!!!!!!!

Hi Sarah

Temperature - A great image that, part of me would like to see the roast a bit more in focus, but the focus on the gauge is spot on, and with the dof how it is the background is great and shows off the dial very well

Thanks Mark and Dk, If I did reshoot it i could try and get a bigger dof but I was struggling with light and took it handheld as there wasn't the time or room to set up a tripod.

Mark I think I pushed the thermometer too far through the joint and it was taking a reading off the tin as it was cooked to perfection! (I've got to say that as Peter cooked it!)

Hi Sarah, do my eyes detect a hint of crackling from some roast pork? I love the temperature gauge, (I had one until my husband put it in the dishwasher!!!) great DOF and composition.

I'm having a hellish time keeping up with everyone! I think this sun has fried my brain!

have to say I like it the important bit is the gauge nicely placed in the frame

Random – I like the two fruit shots. I prefer the composition of #1 but the fabulous clarity of #2

Temperature – That was a nice piece of pork even though I do say so myself. The DoF really works on this shot.

ha ha brilliant

'Temperature' - works well, nice clean clear shot and right on theme.

Temperature - I think in this case the close crop works, nice focus and depth of field makes for a very pleasing image.

Nick
